Titles have value because the community on the site at some point in time decided they had value. They decided that you had to be nominated for something and it had to get approved and whatnot. If the community wanted titles to be worthless, people would still be able to set their rank to whatever they wanted. But over time, the title process became more strict and serious, not less. This is the first time during my stay on the site that I feel like people want titles to become meaningless. Maybe it's a few vocal shitters or maybe it really has become the majority opinion, idk. But it makes me sad

I think it totally is a few vocal shitters, every time I felt like people wanted stuff to be worthless I'd ask in thread or make a new thread to discuss the community approach to titles and the response was almost all that they liked the stricture. I think the dissatisfied and liberal-titling (and often newer) members are the louder and more demanding members.

This is a quote from the Speakeasy, but I feel it fits because of the general joke that UTL is a Golden Retriever. That said, there's at least one other person who fits the persona of a dog, (the only one I can remember right now is Cheery Dog) but I don't have experience with Cheery being referred to as a dog as much as I do UTL.
