my middle birth name is Daniel... when i decided to change my name, i wanted something androgynous, and decided to bastardize my middle name... i decided to spell it Dani to retain the androgynimity, only afterwards i found out that spelling is mostly a feminine spelling...

this is a good question... consciously, i would have to say about 2 years ago, when i was 25... i have a specific memory from the 4th grade when i was on the basketball court of the Christian Academy i was attending at the time, and my friend Mary Beth made a comment that she could put her hair up into a baseball cap, and look like a boy, and i remember thinking, "that sounds neat, i wonder what i would look like as a girl", so i suppose you could say subconsciously it started then...
