You can use your light to look around, but you will need to find a better light source

At the moment, you can see your ladder. Its on the north wall.

Go around the perimeter of the room (clockwise) searching for a switch or electric outlet

[ambic]

To the south you can just make out 3 vats, not quite in a line. There is a block to your right, but its unclear what it is. Theres no lightswitch near the wall around the ladder that you can see, but there is a light bulb or two in the ceiling. You should be able to find a switch if you stumble around enough

As you move your hand around, clockwise, you pass across a desk, followed by a filing cabinet south of the desk, and a large barrel, followed by what appears to be a window. It's boarded up, and not really lettting light through.

By 6 O'Clock (direction) you find what appears to be a wine rack with bottles. It's not light enough to read the bottles.

At about 7 or 8 OClock appears to be a fixed gas-heater. Its off.

But no switch.

Try to pry a board off the window using my screwdriver

Also search for a chain hanging down from the ceiling

You find the chain first

It will be easier to do something with the window with the light on, if you still want after that.

The light comes on, and the room is visible.

[ambic]

The seat at the top of the ladder opens, and you see Harry looking down into the room.

"Rude of you to leave us behind, dear boy. Lucky for you I have such an eagle eye, could have missed you there."

"Sorry about that, I guess my excitement got the better of me! I've only just found the light; join me if you like!"

[ambic]

Harry climbs down, and is in the room

[Primate]

"No worries, of course. Lots of things going on in here, I'm sure we all get caught up a little in the moment."

Examine Filing Cabinet

Examine alchemy desk

Turn off the flashlight

too.
"No sense running down the batteries."

The filing cabinet has sales records, and perhaps more importantly for Terry, recipes. Terry would have loved that.
The alchemy desk has a variety of beakers, titration devices, and even an egg timer.

The flashlight is now off

Examine wine rack

[Primate]

"Check Whether it's all stuff made here or whether there's some fancy stuff. I might not have a desire for wealth anymore but it doesn't mean I can't appreciate a good wine."

"Nothing stands out except this..."

Picks up bottle of rat poison

"Think it's worth carrying around? Or better to just dump it out?"

Look into barrel

[Primate]

*Harry shrugs*

"Your decision. I'd personally stick it in a drink then carry it around. Feel comfortable in the idea that whoever kills you and feels a bit parched is going to have a bad day. But I can be a ittle vengeful like that."

Examine the northwestmost vat
