"I gotta tell you all the truth," Gloria Cleary said.
"I'm the one who created the Clone of Dr. Hideyoshi. I just couldn't help myself. I was so curious what would happen. Dr. Hideyoshi is so admirable and scholarly... I just thought it'd be great to have two.
But then I slipped adrenaline in hellbooks' coffee, and she started getting
wild
and talking about cloning herself, and I realize now if people found out about human cloning, things could get really out of hand.
I think I can I can tell from looking that shellyc that she's the clone. If I give her this injection, she'll fall asleep. Hold her down."
Everyone held shellyc down while Gloria Cleary injected a light pink liquid into the struggling scientist's veins. She kept screaming and pleading and insisting she was the original Dr. Hideyoshi. The more frantic her protests, the more certain it seemed that she was a reproduction.
"Um, maybe the dose is wrong. But this is supposed to put her to sleep when it reacts with the agent I put in the clone's blood, in case. Let's try another fifty milliliters, on her other arm"
A full dose in the other arm still seemed to have no effect. The excited scientists began to let up, then slowly realized that PookyTheMagicalBear and The Bulge weren't actually helping hold shellyc down anymore.
They turned around and saw a dozen people that all looked just like The Bulge.
"C'mon, there's too much science to do for naps!"
"Let's clone Gramz"
"We have enough people to publish peer reviews of our own work now."
"I wouldn't tattle on us, unless you think you can hunt down 4's, 13's, 41's, and 48's tracks after they left the building."
"Someone's buying more coffee and it's not someone who looks like The Bulge."
"Can we clone a petting zoo?"
"Amazing how fast monotonically increasing labor can start accomplishing things when you turn your back for one second, huh?"
"Did you notice how many times we replaced Isis with a clone of her today?"
It seemed like shellyc was the real Dr. Hideyoshi, but that didn't seem like the most important thing by now.
