hmm...
with a quick glance, it seems like I'd prefer to play the setup with 2 Town Masons (who are informed who The Chosen One is) rather than 3 Neighbors (who are informed who The Chosen One is)
a Mafia Neighbor would want to NK The Chosen One
also, I'd want the Neighbor/Mason PT to remain open after N3time will end-

2 masons, 5 vts, and 2 goons is usually considered balanced. This adds a possible N3 vig.
The chosen one will never be eliminated during the day, so while yes, mafia could just kill them N1 if they're in the neighborhood, town would know that there's scum in the neighborhood.
Point being: your idea does sound kinda nice but is too townsided, and I think this setup still works if mafia is in the neighborhood, though maybe it's slightly scumsidedHey all! Excited and nervous to play my first game with you!

This setup doesn't ever have 3 masons. Even if three town are put in the neighborhood they are not sure of each other's alignment
A neighborhood with 2 scum in it have to either:
- work extra hard on play-acting that they're obfuscating the Chosen One's alignment (including not immediately killing the chosen one)
- kill the Chosen One and then avoid the scrutiny that comes with thatHey all! Excited and nervous to play my first game with you!

Neighborhood with 2 scum can kill their neighbor N1, kill the chosen one N2, and then just not claim lmao. (Or they could slowplay.)
Feels kinda scumsided, especially given that scum have decent odds of randomly offing the chosen one on N2 if they aren't in the hood (even if they can't identify one person whom half the town is randomly ignoring, they might just kill someone who seems to be townread and happen to hit them), meaning they have a decent cover for just doing it if they are in the hood. Though if they hit a neighbor N2 that's pretty bad, but I guess it's a bit WIFOMy. Do scum win if it's 2:2 going into N3 (and the chosen one is alive)? If not, it seems pretty townsided if scum aren't in the hood, and scumsided if they are.
I feel like this mechanic probably wants to be in a bit larger of a game. It's always the same. When you fire that first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die. You don't know whose children are going to scream and burn. How many hearts will be broken. How many lives shattered. How much blood will spill, until everybody does what they're always going to have to do from the very beginning... SIT DOWN AND TALK!-

I'm a bit late, but this is definitely scumsided. The Chosen One dying N1 doesn't mean the neighborhood is scum infiltrated. (It's a 1/7 even if the D1 elim is mafia and mafia has literally no idea who the neighborhood is protecting, which is a naive view of the setup.) It is VERY likely that the Chosen One dies before N3 based solely on numbers, so town is functionally operating on no additional info here.
I'd suggest going 10:3 with no other changes as a pretty decent starting point, but I just don't see a way to make this work out well as a 9p.This is a Parachute.-

Okay! Thoughts on this as a 13p? If you just add a goon and 3 townies and keep everything else the same?Hey all! Excited and nervous to play my first game with you!

It’s still very scumsided. Basically you’ve got an alignment neutral neighborhood that’s informed of a N3 vig which is a very small amount of town power for a mini.
A couple routes you could go would be to make the informed a 2p masonry or to add a town pr or two.
If you go with the former, 2 masons and a N3 mass redirector is a fine setup, but not really as interesting as what you were going for imo. I’d advocate for something along the lines of a 1x bp and a guarantee that at most one scum is in the informed group, as that keeps the heart of the setup and makes the group somewhat useful for late game PoE.
Obviously there are other ways to give town more power though. This is a Parachute.-

If the Chosen One is alive at the start of N1, they become informed they’re the Chosen One.
If the Chosen One is alive at the start of N3, they make the nightkill instead of mafia.
If the Chosen One is alive at the start of N5, they choose a player. That player’s alignment is revealed at the start of D6. Also, the mafia don’t get to make a nightkill – instead, the Chosen One dies.Hey all! Excited and nervous to play my first game with you!
