Hello. My name is Haschel Cedricson. I just graduated from Western Oregon University with a Bachelors degree in History. I enjoy Mafia, the Internet, and trivia.
Andycyca wrote:Did you like previous GTKAS? Which one?
The previous GTKAS that sticks with me was Adele, because I remember being surprised that two intelligent, fun-to-read players were siblings.
Did you like the previous standard first post questions?
They're alright.
Do you know who Bertrand Russell is?
He was a British author of some sort. That's all I can tell you without looking him up on the wiki, which would be cheating.
Favorite...
...non-alcoholic drink?
Mountain Dew. I drink an unhealthy amount of the stuff.

...alcoholic drink?
Gimlets. Note a proper gimlet is made with GIN, not vodka.

...ice cream flavor?
I like to take one scoop of cookie dough and one scoop of strawberry, then turn that into a root beer float. I acknowledge this sounds like a disgusting combo, but it is pretty damn amazing.
...movie?
Citizen Kane is the best film of all time.
Simenon wrote:Favorite Novelist?
Steven R. Donaldson

Playwright?
I don't really have a favorite. Niel LaBute is entertaining, in an uncomfortable sort of way.
Poet? Either Percy Bysshe Shelly or W.H. Auden
DrippingGoofball wrote:How much Ben & Jerry's ice cream can you eat in one sitting?
I can eat a pint in a sitting, but I shouldn't. :(
Adel wrote:Have you ever taken a photo of your own feces?
Amazingly enough, the situation has never come up.
Simenon wrote:How likely is it that Adel actually can't stand the sight of blood?
I don't see that as very likely.

Take a look at this cartoon: http://silversteingallery.com/images/Ad ... merica.jpg be sure it is displayed full scale so that you can read the words.
What is the most concise and accurate summery of that cartoon you can generate?
In what ways do you disagree with its thesis?

Have you ever seen a painting by Mark Rothko in the flesh?

How you you rank the following artists in terms of artistic greatness?
Andrew Wyeth, Norman Rockwell, Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning

Have you ever attempted to read James Joyce's
Ulysses
? Did you finish it?

Have you ever read a book by Ian Banks? Ian M. Banks? Which one(s)?

How would you rank the following playwrights in terms of artistic greatness?
Eugène Ionesco, Bertolt Brecht, Harold Pinter, August Strindberg, Sarah Kane
I enjoy Bertolt Brecht, and I've never heard of the others. Is Strindberg a Swede? If so, I think I've read one of his plays and liked it.
Favourite breed of cat?
Either British Shorthair or Manx.
Favourite name of a country?
Kyrgyzstan.
Favourite Norse mythological figure?
Heimdall.
Take a look at this cartoon: http://silversteingallery.com/images/Ad ... merica.jpg be sure it is displayed full scale so that you can read the words.
What is the most concise and accurate summery of that cartoon you can generate?
In what ways do you disagree with its thesis?
Summary: "Art is confusing as fuck." Disagreements: I don't think the things depicted as chains weighing down art are necessarily destructive. Just because artists are different doesn't mean that they are in danger of splintering completely from the Tree of Art.
Have you ever seen a painting by Mark Rothko in the flesh?
No.
How you you rank the following artists in terms of artistic greatness?
Andrew Wyeth, Norman Rockwell, Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning
Wyeth, Rockwell, de Kooning, Warhol.
Have you ever read a book by Ian Banks? Ian M. Banks? Which one(s)?
I have not.
What genres of techno do you listen to?
That depends how you define techno.
http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/
Trip-hop and ambient breaks are probably my favorite.
Yar har, fiddle di dee,
Being a pirate is alright to be,
Do what you want ‘cause a pirate is free,
You are a pirate!
Yeah, I enjoy Lazytown too.
When are you getting rid of that ghastly nibbler avatar?
I was going to change it last week, but the animated gif I wanted to change to was too big. I'll probably go back to the Captain as soon as I stop being lazy.
what is your favorite art movement, assuming you give a damn?
I love impressionism. When I went to France last summer, I found the Musee d'Orsay more interesting than the Louvre.

d&b is a genre of jungle.
Favourite impressionst (you can include the non-French ones or the ones who werent really big on the shows here if you like, since the definition is up in the air anyways)?
Renoir is probably my favorite, particularly his works set in urban settings.
Favourite impressionist work
Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette
Favourite breed of sheep?
I do not know enough breeds to have a favorite.
Favourite spice?
Cumin. Cayenne pepper is up there, too.
Favourite lyric from "I am the very model of a modern major general"?
The one about differentiating a Mauser and a javelin by sight.
What do you think of the dada?
I understand it, but I don't "get" it.
What is your opinion of Duchamp's Fountain?
On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rank it in terms of artistic value?
I hate Fountain. To me it signifies every person who decided to act like a fucktard and defend themselves by saying "Oh, but it's ART!" If I walked up to your pet dog and urinated all over it, that is not art, no matter how much bullshit I make up about how it's a fucking metaphor how the human animal marks his territory or anything like that. I could declare any of the objects in my room right now to be art, but that doesn't make it so. Ceci n'est pas une brilliant artwork.
Your opinion of Tristan Tzara's work?
I can't say that I'm a huge fan.
???
That's my Geek Code. There's an online decoder HERE.
What is your first impression upon seeing This.
Interesting. I wonder what the secrets were. I suppose that was the point.
ditto for this
I don't understand what is going on, and I wish my German was better.
