Fortunately, when you are a hero of prophecy, what "terms" you are on with people hardly matters. Kings come and go, heroes are a bit more special.

Unfortunately, this time it did matter. The only way to stop the turmoil was to change the ruler to this beggar on the streets, and the King hated it, so he got his men to arrest Thomas for treason.

Fortunately, as it goes for prophecy, getting arrested put Thomas in the exact position he needed to be to save the kingdom.

Unfortunately, he had to sit in prison for 2 years being fed only gruel and water before finally escaping.

Fortunately, 2 years was his sentence anyway.

Unfortunately, Thomas had to spend his sentence sharing a cell with a bunch of wasps and a porcupine.

Fortunately, it wasn't the same porcupine that had a grudge on Thomas for sending him to the hospital.

Unfortunately, that porcupine regularly corresponded with the porcupine in Thomas's cell and as such, was quite prepared to seek revenge when Thomas got out.

Fortunately, the guards intercepted the correspondence and moved the porcupine to a higher-security cell.

Unfortunately, the porcupine was also a prophet, and higher-security didn't stop them from making a series of dire prophesies concerning Thomas's health, safety, and well-being.

Fortunately, those prophesies turned out to be false.
