La Scallop was the scene of a lot of commotion on the fourth day after ReaperCharlie's death.

Though everyone's focus had been on the performers, killerjester's death (a caterer!) showed the company the possible error of their ways.

The costume master had a habit of calling everyone down for fittings and adjustments at the worst possible times - right when they were about to go on , or even worse, in the middle of the night! He even summoned patrons for tours that sometimes coincided with important fittings.

No one liked it, but when you had a good head of wardrobe, you put up with his eccentricities. MrBuddyLee might call you to adjust a button at half past midnight, but he got the costumes done and he got them done on time. They were always impeccable and La Scallop was well known for its sartorial splendor.

But in this stressful time, no one had the patience for midnight fittings. Yet, MrBuddyLee seemed to increase them tenfold, and always insisted. The company finally began to take note, asking themselves WHY it was so important that they be measured for bonnets at 3 am and no other time. When too many bonnet fittings coincided with too many deaths, that was the last straw.

La Scallop did not give second chances at a time like this. Renowned or not, MrBuddyLee was fired immediately.

Incensed, MrBuddyLee came up from the basement dressed in his favorite costume, the Queen of the Night. Why, no one could say, but they were too afraid to ask.

"You think you're doing the company any good, defending the wastrels, the fakers, the scourge of opera?" he howled, breaking his usual routine of near silence. "We're doing this for your own good. Your own good."

As a last parting shot, he spat, "It's better that this company dies than be anything but excellent. It's time that you start asking yourself where your loyalty lies - with art, or with popularity. Choose carefully, or you'll be next."

On that ominous note, the door slammed behind him.

David Xanatos had always been an interesting character, even in a company full of interesting characters.

He was a props master and he did his job meticulously, so meticulously that no one even thought to question the fact that he kept the guns. The opera house kept many guns of all types, both real and fake, and David was in charge of them all.

But then, the usually quiet props master challenged the head of wardrobe, saying he found a gun in the costume workshop - one of his, that had been missing.

All of a sudden, the people that usually lived their lives behind the scenes were center stage, the focus of the evolving drama.

The company eventually decided to trust David, and it had made a good choice - but unfortunately, this had also made David a target for someone.

"Who would kill David?" everyone wondered. No one could have thought he really framed MrBuddyLee, could they?

They had been hoping MrBuddyLee was Bowser's only conspirator, but now it was all up in the air again. It could even have been someone still suspicios of David's easy access to the guns.

David was found in his props room, one of his own guns having prepared him to become La Scallop's newest prop.
