At the beginning of each round, all players will be standing. There will be N-1 chairs available, with N being the number of players currently standing. The game will continue until there is either 1 player remaining, or there are 0 players remaining.
I will randomize a time (down to the minute) between 24 hours and 72 hours when the thread will close for the round. When the thread closes, the music ends and any players sitting will be allowed to continue into the next round. Players standing will be eliminated.
During each round, in order to survive, a player must be sitting when the thread closes. To sit down, a player must post "
sit in chair #X"
with X being a specific chair number. However, each player is given a limited number of "sits" during the entire game to use across all rounds. If a player attempts to "sit" more than they have in their bank, that player will be automatically eliminated.
If a player chooses to sit in an empty chair, they will occupy that chair. However, if a player chooses to sit in an occupied chair, they will then steal that chair from the player that was previously sitting there. The player that was previously sitting will then shift to an adjacent chair (preference to next highest number if both are empty). An adjacent chair is one whose number is either one higher or lower than the target chair. However, if both adjacent chairs are occupied, the formerly seated player will be forced to stand. So it's important for players to watch to see if someone steals their chair, because they might end up standing even after having secured a seat!
At the end of the round, any player who is standing by one of two paths, either by inactivity by failing to sit or by being forced to stand, will be eliminated. Multiple eliminations in a round are possible. Additionally, it is possible for only one round to be run if this is the case. Any eliminated player who was eliminated by being forced to stand (ie: chair was stolen and there were no adjacent chairs available) will then be allowed to will their remaining "sits" to any alive player. Any player who was eliminated but did not use a "sit" in that particular round will not be allowed to use a will.

I would like to bring one of those lawn chairs that are really difficult to put together, and then snap shut on you when you go to sit on it.

I think the number of sits will be somewhere around 2.5xN. Once game starts, politicking is encouraged through whatever means of communication. If game gets to two players the final round will still be played out (most sits at f2 does not auto win).
Everyone starts with 25 "sits" or whatever. These will not be replenished, but they may be potentially willed to another player. Feel free to PM me your will in advance if you want.
Find a seat before the music ends:
The game starts and the music has started! Within 24-72 hours of this post, the thread will be auto-locked. At that time, no more players can elect to sit. Any player still standing at that point will be out. Please refer to rules to determine when you are sitting or standing. I will attempt to update when I can for the first two rounds to assist in comprehension. I chose the easiest chairs to photoshop, so apologies to those not chosen.
Please enjoy this music:
