Everyone starts with nine more coins than the number of players in the game. (8 players - 17 coins each, 21 players - 30 coins each, etc), and there are thirteen rounds in the game.
Each round, players spend some integer number of coins, and they're ranked against the other players, with those who spend more receiving the better rank. Then they receive a payback depending on their position - last place receives 10 coins, and each higher place receives one coin more in payback (so with eight players, 1st would receive 17 coins). If there's a tie, those involved in the tie receive the lower amount (and in a tie for last the amount paid will be reduced below 10 accordingly)
However, the goal is
not
to build up the most coins; instead it is to earn the most points over the thirteen rounds. Each round, players in (roughly) the top half of positions receive points, with 1st receiving the most (obviously). The point system will vary depending on the number of players in the game, but as an example, with 8 players the top four would receive points in a 9-6-3-1 fashion, or with 12 players it would be the top six in a 10-6-4-3-2-1 fashion. Again, if there is a tie, the players involved will receive points according to the lower position.It's also possible to send a default/fallback value to use in the future if you happen to not submit. You can express the value in an absolute number of coins, or a percentage of the total (which will be rounded down if necessary). If a player doesn't submit and doesn't have a fallback value, they won't participate in that round.Example with 8 players wrote:Player A spends 15 coins, ranking 1st. Player B spends 14 coins, ranking 2nd. He receives 16 coins in payback, along with 6 points.
Player F and G both spend 12 coins, tying for 3rd. They receive 14 coins each in payback, along with 1 point (the score for 4th).
Player H spends 9 coins, ranking 5th. He receives 13 coins in payback, but no points.
Player D spends 6 coins, ranking 6th. He receives 12 coins in payback, but no points.
Player C and Player E both spend 0 coins, tying for last. They receive 9 coins each in payback (they tie for last, which reduces the last place payback), but no points.
