Welcome, citizens of the Mish Mash, to Spyfall Part 2.

Part one, hosted by the awesome Beefster, is over.

In a shocking finale, the truth was revealed. An agent from the KGB had been amongst the town all along - and in the guise of a KGB agent, no less!

Unfortunately for the town, the truth was revealed too late. Having completed her mysterious agenda, the spy was whisked away, never to be seen in the Crypt again.

But so many mysteries remained unsolved.
What ever had their agenda been?
Why had a spy hidden themselves in such an eerie locale?
And why had they become afflicted by such convenient amnesia?



In usual sequel fashion, this round is going have more players, more spies, more explosions and more twists than ever before so sign up now and prepare yourself for a wild ride!

So what is Spyfall?

Spoiler: THE BASICS
Spyfall is a social hidden-role game. One player is secretly the spy, with all the other players having a location and a role that is relevant to the location. Players take turns asking questions to each other, trying to figure out who the spy is without revealing the location. Meanwhile, the spy is trying to figure out the location without seeming like they do not know where they are.

Spoiler: GAMEPLAY
At all times, it will be some player's turn to ask a question to another player. You should address the player with an @player and bold the question with it. When you respond to a question, you should quote the question and then answer it after the quote. After the question has been answered, it is your turn to ask a question. You may address a question to anyone other than the player who addressed you.

At any time, players can cast votes using [ vote ] tags, indicating that they think the voted player is the spy. If at any point 6/8 players have voted a player, the game ends. If the player chosen by the vote is the spy, then the town wins. Otherwise, the spy wins.

At any time, the spy can declare that they are the spy and has one guess at the location. If they are correct (reasonably speaking), then the spy wins. Otherwise the town wins.

If the deadline is reached and neither of these conditions has been met, the spy has one shot to guess the location. If they guess correctly, the spy wins. Otherwise the town wins. The spy will have 24 hours to make their guess.

Unlike the face-to-face version, you will be able to talk freely about your suspicions, HOWEVER, you may not ask questions freely. Be cautious with this as it may reveal the location or your identity as the spy.

Please, no encrypted text. If you take longer than 24 hours to respond to a question addressed to you, you will be prodded.

Typically a game will go longer than this, but hopefully that gives you an idea of how this should work.

Spoiler: WHAT'S DIFFERENT IN PART 2?
Firstly, there will not be a time limit on the day phase. 24 hour prods will still be in force, and failure to respond to prods will result in replacement.
This means that the spy is never "forced" to guess at the end of the game; accordingly, town cannot win via the spy being incorrect in their end-game guess.
Win conditions are therefore as follows:
THE TOWN
wins when the appropriate number of people have correctly guessed & voted for the spy.
THE SPY
wins at any time, if they announce themselves as the spy in thread & correctly guess the location.

Secondly, as long as we get enough people part two will have 12 players and TWO SPIES.
The spies are aware of each other's identities, but cannot communicate outside of the thread.
If the town correctly lynches EITHER of the spies, the town will immediately win.

what happens if town lynches wrong but the spy also guesses wrong?

and, do both of the spies have to agree on something before guessing? does one lose it for the other if they announce but guess wrong?

Also how many tries does town get to guess the spy? I think having one or two shots is fair? Idk, more than that changes the spirit of the game

I'm gonna suggest that the spies get one factional guess. One guessing wrong loses the game for both spies. What does everyone think?

Since you can play Spyfall and have 1 spy vs 20 town pretty comfortably (it's actually easier for the spy the more people you have), having 2vX is instantly spysided, just from a "2 heads > 1" POV.... But if the town targets a random person it also doubles their chance of winning. But it's also a fun idea and it's kinda difficult to anticipate how forum play will work. So let's do it!



Also we now have 12 people which is very exciting! I'm just waiting for a response from randomidget but will give them 24 hours. If anyone still wants to play, please /in for the replacement queue.

The more I think about it the less I like daytalk as it allows one spy to feed the other spy answers if they so choose.

How about this: after one spy reveals and guesses, if they are wrong, the other spy immediately gets one final guess (with no further communication)?
