I'll add in response to math in response to "ability to reread the thread is nowhere near as good as being able to read your friends' faces" - without daychat, scum also don't get to lean on reading friends' (teammates') faces. This sort of balances itself out. Scum have to lay crumbs if they ever go on missions together on forum, whereas IRL they just wink when nobody's looking.

Any thoughts?

For the leader mechanic to be possible, it would basically go:

1. Have an opening post with the leader rotation.

2. The leader bolds their proposal in-thread.

3. Players vote either simultaneously (by PMing the mod) or openly (by voting yes/no).

I think simultaneous voting is unwieldy, and is the reason the leader mechanic was nixed. A day might have up to 5 leaders, each requiring about a day for each player to check in and vote.

Open voting is actually something I could definitely be interested in, however. It wouldn't require 24/7 mod activity to uphold, because
- If there are 3 Nay votes, the next leader can already start proposing.
- If there are 3 Yea votes, then the mod starts the night just like usual.

I'd mod but Dynamic Duo is coming up so I'm gonna be a bit busy in that department. So in this case, if anyone's interested in having a leader mechanic with open yea/nay voting, I'd say that's up to the mod as long as they label it as a variant :D

I think the leader mechanic is briljant, and it works so well in rl.
To implement it on forum exactly like the real game, you'd need to all PM the mod with yes/no and that takes a lot of time.

So open voting is already a deviation from the actual leader mechanic, but could still be interesting.
I'd be down to try.

Like math said, the mod is not required for it because if 3 no's are aqcuired, the players can jump to the next Leader (order in the OP or something) and start voting on his team.
