Shoe size

I think shoe, engine and dwarf work best, and I'm still partial to club on the price clue.

Oil clue 1: Definitely ENGINE
Oil clue 2: WHALE is the only one that fits. SHOE doesn't make sense and the "shoe polish" link is tenuous as hell.
Size 1: DWARF is the front runner here.
Size 2: If we assume that DWARF is the last clued word, we have to ask why "size" was given as a clue and not something like "Gimli" or whatever. Therefore we can assume that there is a word that fits both "size" and either oil or price. WHALE is a better choice because it is both distinctively large and actually is a famous source of oil. SHOE is a decent size link but it would have to replace DWARF in this scenario which I don't buy.

Price: I still think a banknote is a much likelier fit than a price club. Chemist will probably have to tiebreak here.

He gave us size and 3 which means that size goes with 3 of the clues.

If he had done size infinity then one word would go with size and the rest would be our missed clues.

And how you have dwarf over shoe for size is beyond me.

Shoe size is more direct than dwarves being small in size.

The size of an engine is a thing, shoe sizes are things, and I would go dwarf for the 3rd. Then we are trying to figure out which is our last.

Which is why we should have been guessing instead of passing this whole time.

He's not going to clue us on engine again when we already had it on lock. Size infinite means one is size and we have to clean up two oil and a price. Size 3 means at least two are related and he has to say 3 so we can have four guesses.

We need two oil clues, and engine/whale are the only two that fit. If it was shoe, he could have given "boot infinite" knowing that we would get shoe and then clean up the only two remaining words we were talking about for oil.

Shoe size is a good link. But it's the wrong link because if it's right then there was no need to link it to whale. Therefore, dwarf.

You obviously think you know better, so do whatever.

Well we should still wait for Chemist.
