How to Open the Gate to Hell

You must take the following steps, in order.

1. You must sacrifice (kill) one of the heroes using a weapon, then bring the body to the Catacombs, Chasm or Pentagram Chamber. You can pick up a body as you would pick up an item and carry it. Tip over the hero's figure and put it on your card to show you are carrying it. The body is a dead weight (heh); while carrying it, each room you enter counts as 2 spaces of movement. The Dog cannot carry a body.
   
2. Once the body is in one of those rooms, you can attempt a Sanity roll or Knowledge roll of 4+ to open the gate to Hell. You can attempt this roll only once during your turn.

As the gate rips its way through the house and into your world, you can already hear the shrieks of the damned mingling sweetly with the cries of the yet-to-be-damned. Damnation and terror, death and destruction . . . and you're immune to it all. Enjoy.

I don't think there was anything we could have done differently there.

Probably unlucky ani uncovered the furnace room. (I did almost suggest if Mallow got out with the elevator that ani should hide in the research lab because of the moment of hope), but I think he still died.

There were a couple of things that I would've maybe recommended as a hero, but overall Brandon was very lucky that a) he killed ani in one hit and b) that he was in a small basement where one of the three rooms he needed had already been discovered, and that none of you could easily get to the basement to stop him. Without knowing how close he was to completing his goal though, I'd say you played pretty well.

Anyway, thank you all for playing! My next game I think will be something gameshow-esque (I am feeling Fifteen to One but we'll see), but I am also working on updating the Vassal module for Betrayal to include the Widow's Walk pieces, so once I get that slapped together I will probably run Betrayal with Widow's Walk! Yay new stuff!

Yeeeah I should have taken the hit and gone down to send the statue at him even though I'd probably die if he wanted to come after me (and he could have gotten the girl for an extra sanity+knowledge if he came back to punch me too which made it even more ehhhh for me), since that would mean if he screwed up the check we'd win the next turn - there was nothing we could do about him potentially succeeding the first roll once ani died in one hit tho
