Super Mario Bros. -(3/19/19)Iprobablysuck
This isn't fun bad! This is mostly just generic messy bad. Luigi is played by John Leguizamo who's meant to be this endearing goober, but he and the rest of the actors just seem like they have no idea what kind of movie this is supposed to be. And the movie doesn't seem to know either. Why are the goombas lizard people?? Why are they running our government??? The worst part is the two bad guy goons who are massive knockoff versions of the Wet Bandits from Home Alone. Once Mario and Luigi get to the Mushroom Kingdom, the tone is whimsical but everything that's going on is super confusing and offputting.
The production design and practical effects are actually pretty inventive, and the movie has a solid score done by Alan Silvestri, a very accomplished guy who did the music for the fucking Back to the Future series and all the Avengers films!!!
