I’d say go whatever way you think is funniest for you. Wizards are great for solving problems but sometimes problems are fun

I think a wizard would be cool, I wanna see what you can come up with.

Is buying up a bunch of oil flasks and chucking them at people -> having our dragon pally use their breath a good idea? Is it a common tactic lol

The only caster I ever played was a 3.5e Warlock, so I guess I'll give spells a try this time around.

I've switched to Pollux ('cause he's a caster, get it?) the human wizard. If he ever dies and can't be brought back, I still have Screek the birb with his bow, in reserve.

I only just got the joke. Excellent name. Also, you took Variant Human, but didn't take a feat. Do you want me to build one from the book for you to use, since none of the free ones are great for a wizard?

Oh, right. The only option was firearms specialist, and that's just silly for my character. Could I have Keen Mind, instead? It suits the character's backstory better.

God I took that because it was then only one on the list too. Is there other options? I was vaguely remembering a feat that gave extra skills or expertise?

The sun beat down on Cobble as he hauled timber to the build site. As he crested the hill, he looked out over the fields.

His cloth shirt and breeches were a tight fit, stretched over too much Half-Orc. Poorly sewn patch jobs here and there exposed pale blue flesh. Out of his towering, slightly hunched frame grew two enormous trunks that gripped a young tree in each calloused hand. Feeling an itch under his generous underbite, Cobble turned his head and scratched his stubbly chin with the side of his shoulder. Much better! He reminded himself to shave tonight.

A large brown cloth covered his sweating brow and a dark hairline that had (somehow) already seen better days. Two shiny tusk-like teeth jutted out from his lips, pointing up towards a large blue pair of concerned eyes. The pesky itch now satisfied, Cobble descended from the hilltop with heavy steps.

Cobb watched as something very odd walked down the road near the fields. It was gold, but he couldn't make out much more. Cobb, make a perception check.

A total of 13. Allo, tell him what he sees.

For future reference, you can include the modifier inside the dice tags, i.e.

1 20-Sided Dice: (18)+1 = 19

A gold, scaly creature strolled down the road. It was wearing a backpack and covered in shiny chainmail armor. The dragonborn was absentmindedly playing with a battleaxe in his hands as he walked, his head constantly jerking around as if looking for something.

I'll assume mine's the tall, badly-dressed one.

A gaunt and slightly pale man in plain (and somewhat unkempt) dark robes is walking along, reading a book and paying little attention to his surroundings. Every few seconds he points a finger in front of him and mutters a few words, causing the ground in front of him to become more smooth and free of tripping hazards. At some point he stops, strokes his pointy goatee, then points a finger to the ground again, lifting a large amount of loose earth, packing it together, and depositing it in a short column in front of him. He sets his book on it, produces an ink bottle and quill from a pocket and starts crossing things out and scribbling on the page, ignoring the new splashes of ink joining their kind on his clothes. After a minute or so, he returns the items in his pocket, points at the column of earth which goes back into its recently dug hole, and continues walking, reading, and smoothing the path ahead of him.

nice

The soft velvet of Cheater’s robes hung limp around his large body and clung to his sweat drenched leggings. He was greatfull that the skinny wizard stopped every once in a while as it gave him time to rest and perhaps bother his manservant to wipe his brow. He really had no idea what the strange mystic was up to during these intervals, but the measurements and rituals reminded Cheater of his science tutors back home, who would drone on and on about this or that until the hour was up and then they would leave. Cheater hated science because there was no luck involved, but he liked this wizard because he dawdled and slowed the party’s pace, which allowed Cheater to rest, and beg his squire to fan just a bit more vigorously.

The sound of a dulcimer echoes from the distance, as a strange but amiable-seeming newcomer appears over the crest of a hill. Xofelf, describe your character.

Noticing she has an audience ahead of her, Ilyana's entire face lights up with a brilliant smile, a twinkle in her blue eyes. She is dressed in an abnormal amount of layers, somehow wearing both skirts and pants, endless shawls and scarves, no two pieces of clothing the same colour, and yet complementing each other impeccably in what is clearly a planned explosion of colour to attract the eye. It is hard to tell how old this half-elf is, her face showing no signs of age or extreme youth, no greying or dulling of her red hair. All in all, she gives off a strange yet incredibly appealing vibe. And now that she's gotten that much closer to the strangers upon this path, she starts singing a jaunty walking tune, and that's where the trouble begins. As beautifully as Ilyana can play the dulcimer and as charming and lovely she looks, it would seem that those gifts did not extend to her singing. The sound of Ilyana's voice wasn't horrible, it was just mediocre at best, and yet she sang so earnestly and enthusiastically, it was hard not to be charmed by her efforts as poor as they are.

Pollux, roll an intelligence save.

As the travellers walk, one final figure emerges from the nearby woods, immediately catching everyone's attention. His garish clothes stick out like a sore thumb, and his strange cart, which he, having ceased to haul it, has begun to set up as what looks like a sort of mobile shop, is even more outlandish. He calls out in a booming voice, far louder than one would expect, "Come one, come all, to witness the astounding, to experience the wondrous arcane, to see The Marvellous and Magnificent Maximillian Milgram, the Master of the Magical!"
