I mean the guy is just trying to get me a strike otherwise, this makes zero sense for him to want a tie to be half a strike.

ties def. shouldn't be a full strike imo - since the game's already started and we've already had a tie with the rules for that spelled out in the first post I think we should leave it as is, but next year I think it counting as 1/3rd or 1/2 a strike or at least being explicitly counted against you as an additional tiebreaker would be good imo.

Oh, I agree it's too late for this season. But next season it should be a full strike on the grounds that this game is about picking teams you think will win their game.

As the person who originally ran the first one of these I'm cashing in any clout that gave me to make my opinion matter more.*

a tie isn't a loss either. It should be a half strike.

We aren't trying to avoid losers, though. We're trying to pick winners.

The way the rules work is that picking a team that ties is better than a team that loses (because you don’t get a strike) but worse than a team that wins (because it doesn’t count as a correct pick for the purpose of tiebreakers, and is strictly worse for you than a correct pick). Next year I’ll probably change it to make it even stronger, with the first tiebreaker after number of strikes being the number of winning picks. But for now this point is moot because I’m not willing to make midseason changes.

I just read a thing online where someone suggested that if a person picks a tie game, the next week they have to make two picks. That seems like a cool idea, but again maybe next season.
