Homebrew Scummer D&D
Posted: Sun Jun 07, 2020 4:23 pm
I remember long time ago that there used to be a big interest for trying out D&D like systems on this site. I wrote my own homebrew system similar to D&D, and wrote a short campaign using it. I will be playing it with my regular scummer D&D folks as well, but I also wanted to see if there were any interest from you guys.
The campaign will likely last two 3 hour text-only sessions on roll20. The sessions will be held on this and next saturday at time to-be-determined. The draft of the system is viewable on my website: here in the top right tab of "Celerity Lite". You will need to come up with your own characters, using the ruleset I have provided. I encourage communicating with one another in the thread regarding your characters. I will of course be around as much as possible over the week to answer any questions you might have. (And if you discover any errors or typos, please inform me so I can make edits!)
Campaign Introduction:
Militia Captain Melanie Carver is cool-headed as they come and no slouch in a fight, but a string of recent disappearances in the caravan routes near the town has left her stumped. It is impossible for such a large-scale kidnapping operation to continue without a base of operations, and such a place simply did not exist in the town limits as far as she can make out. She did not have the manpower to scour the miles of uncivilized, dense woods around the town for a possible bandit camp, and as such, finally turned to outside help: the adventurers.
Maybe you were hired because you are known to be very good at this sort of job, or maybe your enthusiasm or righteousness has convinced the captain. Perhaps you are working as security for one of the caravan companies that were hit, or one of your loved ones has gone missing in these woods. Whatever the reason might be, you have been hired by Captain Carver to track down a possible base of operations in the miles wide forested area around Barrelsford. The game starts with your party out and about on the quest when you approach a woodcutters's camp...

Campaign Introduction:
Barrelsford: Forgotten Mansion
B
arrelsford is a sleepy town that has seen better days. When a silver mine was discovered in the near Boar Mountains, Baron James Armsworth staged the mining operations where he could "float the silver barrels down a ford". Barrelsford was set up as a mining town, but the mine ran dry a few years back, and most of the fortune-seeking folks went elsewhere. The inhabitants now live by logging, farming trapping, and prospecting what they can. The town''s major export is, ironically, barrels. Once in high demand for shipping the mined ore for processing, the barrels themselves are now sold to passing by merchants to pick up goods elsewhere. The town still provides the baron with a trickle of tax money, and the baron has honored his commitment to the townsfolk by maintaining a local militia.Militia Captain Melanie Carver is cool-headed as they come and no slouch in a fight, but a string of recent disappearances in the caravan routes near the town has left her stumped.
