Sorry for the late confirm, I wasn't expecting the game to start so quickly.

As for the questions...
1) Have you played mafia before (on MS, another site, IRC etc.)?
I played a newbie game on here before that ended in a mafia victory (I was a town jail keeper). It wasn't so bad, given how I managed to guess the scum team correctly, even though they still got me lynched.

I've recently been modded in the mafia sub-forum of another forum, and played something like 30 games there since last August, too. Sometimes I play it with my friends in real life, also.
2) How often can we expect to hear from you (At least once per day is a good baseline) and what timezone are you?
Once a day, sometimes a little more, except on Tuesdays. There's always the chance that I can access the site from my iPod using my school's wifi, but don't be surprised if I can't.

And an avatar, hmm? This should do.

Q1) Do you have any experience with mafia games ( This site or others)
See previous posts.

Q2) What time zone are you in?
See above.

Q3) How often can we expect a post from you?
See above.

Q4) What role do you like to play the most?
My town survival rate is pretty craptastic (14%, lolol), so I have a big affinity for the bulletproof role, or doctor when I can protect myself.

My best games as mafia were often when I was a role checker, so I have a certain fondness for that one, especially since I get it relatively often. Same goes for godfather.

Q5) How do you guys feel about lurkers or liars?
They're anti-town but I can't say that I never lurk. Sometimes I just have no idea of what I could say to contribute to the conversation/debate/accusations, but I still do my best to get a few posts in whenever I can. Liars... it's a case-by-case basis, but I've had bad experiences with them. A gambit involving a lie from a townie can turn out to be really catastrophic.

Sorry for disappearing, this week was very long and filled with homework. u___u

VOTE: Xenoria

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole VM vs. The World thing was just a bunch of townies arguing with each other, hence my vote; there's not much the mafia could have done now.

Just a vague reference to
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
and how you interacted with a lot of people in the game so far (Twistedspoon, Zyx, Larry David, asher1611, Chrimi). Okay, maybe they're not all townies, but I'd still rather go fish than join an argument I don't get the point of.

Sorry, I was posting from my iPod and couldn't get a good look at your username. I'll be more careful next time.

Not much happened so far, beside Voidedmafia going on a crusade and getting into arguments/debates/discussions with everyone (not that it's a bad thing), and I'm going with the assumption that most of these people are townies, hence my vote; the mafia has nothing to do beside sitting back and watching VM argue with everyone, which is something you have been doing.

Vote: Zenax

Eh, I was hoping someone else than you would catch up on that.

I did went out to fish with my vote, even though I've been inactive the first few pages; Xephoria hasn't even after I've voted for him, and still didn't give any good explanation.

Hey, no fair using TVTropes!

Though, you haven't said who Mr. Exposition is, and wheres he's from.

But still, are you expecting everyone to vote by this point or something? Staying back and letting me argue with everyone isn't a bad point, but are you really expecting people to have votes out all the time?

I have no idea who he is, no. :c

I am not expecting everyone to vote, but I'd expect people to post more than Xephoria, or at least explain themselves better. Voting doesn't really matter right now, imo, but discussions, accusations and whatnot do.

Do you think VM's "against the world" attitude you have identified is indicative of town?

It can go both way. If I had to make a wild guess using gut feeling, I'd say town, but we're still only 5 pages in.

I didn't vote you because you didn't vote--heck, you were my first vote. I voted you because you haven't done anything, sat through the whole VM vs. everyone thing without commenting and even now that you started posting, are still doing nothing.

That's why I wanted someone else than you to pick up on my accusation of Xephoria; calling me out on it would have been fine, because it was indeed a weak and ironic accusation, but pressing would just have been going for an easy lynch.

With that no longer being an option, I don't really know about Xephoria, but I'll leave my vote there until I get a satisfactory defense or something.

Also, what's this poem you people are talking about?

Ah, okay.

Either it's you that's being too vocal, or the others that aren't saying much, and going for an easy lynch can tell a lot about someone's alignment; the other mafia I took part in on here had the mafia try to lynch someone that way and I got to identify the lynchee as innocent while they were doing so, which helped a lot in the long run.
granted, the town lost that one, but...

I know that past games shouldn't have much impacts in ongoing games, but it's just an example.

And yes, having pressure on Xephoria is a good thing, but I just wish it could have been in other circumstances than this in particular.

Also, I'm not a fan of easy lynches. Granted, sometimes you'll get lucky and nab a mafia that way, but more often than not it'll end up in having the doctor or other power roles lynched without them having the chance to correctly defend themselves. But that's pretty much the opinion you have worded differently.

Knowing your reads on the other players would be nice, yeah, even if it's just gut feeling. From my experience using intuition can play an important part in smoking out the mafia.

Hope everything will work out okay for you two.

But I said I'd reply to that and people would probably slap me if I ignored it, so there.

asher wrote:So we're all Voided's evil Ex's? Too bad I lost my vegan powers.

And I think you're overstating what voided is doing here. I don't think his aggressiveness necessarily makes him town, but you raising a "everybody vs X" fallacy does seem like it is trying to redirect attention onto voided to get other people to tunnel him.

I'm not trying to get everyone on him by stating a fact: yes, he's the one who interacted with the others the most so far in the game, it's not a big secret. I didn't even accuse him or anything, because he hasn't done much that seems very mafia-y. He's fishing with his votes, doesn't tunnel, etc. So I can't really see where you're going with that.

But yes, I did overstate that. The reference was too tempting.

I don't like where you're going with this. Why does one have to make a lynch more difficult for themselves than necessary? The process is simple: find the person who you think is most likely to be subverting the town, vote for that person, convince others to do the same, and lynch. If you were right, great. So many people are concerned about being in the crosshairs or espousing too much about making the "anti-town" play. To me this sounds like you're trying to appear town by speaking too much. Don't like bandwagons? Sometimes they happen with good reason and sometimes the scum slip and jump on board at the wrong time.

So instead of looking for people who are subverting the town, you get in an exchange with voided and follow it up by sitting back to take in the other fireworks while never fully resolving your points.

UNVOTE:
VOTE: Zenax

Let's say that at the beginning of the game everyone voted for the same person, without giving any reasoning or anything. It is an easy lynch, right? But no matter the alignment of the person who was lynched, the information gained from it is close to zero, because there has been no discussion, no arguing, no previous vote, no nothing before. Before you say it: I know it's not the same situation, but it's similar; with all these votes pilled on Xephoria, the mafia would have had a perfect opportunity to cause a mislynch, or if he is mafia, to bus his friend.

I can't see what else I was supposed to do while waiting for Xephoria to answer to my vote beside keeping on talking with whoever was there; discussions can only help the game move forward, so again I don't see where you're going with that.
