01
> Votes must be bolded. Example -
Vote: Kison
is an acceptable vote. Any votes that are not bolded will be ignored. You may also
Unvote
if you wish to have your vote removed.

<
02
> A lynch will occur when a player has obtained a majority of votes. Once this happens, any attempt to move your vote will go unheeded. Voting for a no-lynch is also acceptable. Please note that voting no-lynch is not the same as not voting. If the majority of players vote no-lynch, the day will end instantly and transition to night.

<
03
> You may not communicate with anyone regarding this game unless your role PM explicitly says otherwise. If this is the case, follow the instructions in your role PM.

<
04
> No loopholes: Do not edit your posts if you are able to do so. Do not use small or hidden text. Do not encode information using cryptography. And do not use the
color brown
in your posts, as it is reserved by the moderator.

<
05
> Thou shalt not quote thy holy mod. This means that you should not quote any private communication between you and me in this thread.

<
06
> Once you are dead, the show's over. Please do not post in the thread again until the game has ended. I will however allow one 'bah!' post, but it must contain no game related content.

<
07
> Any player who, without prior notice, goes without posting for more than 72 hours, excluding weekends, will run the risk of being replaced. Treat this game as a commitment and notify me if you anticipate being away for more than a few days.

<
08
> If the deadline is reached, then the game will immediately transition to night. If no majority has been reached prior to the deadline, then no lynch will occur.

<
09
> Days will have fixed three week deadlines. Extensions will be provided if absolutely necessary. Nights will last 72 hours unless I say otherwise. If you do not submit a night action to me, then you're tough out of luck!

<
10
> Be civil. This is a game. It's meant to be played. It's meant to be fun. Do your part, and thou shalt prosper.

    Hi, everyone!

I'm your friendly neighborhood Inexperienced Challenged player, or IC for short.

What that means, basically, is that I'm here to help guide you through the mystery that is MafiaScum.net.

If you have any questions about how we play here, feel free to ask me. My actions are governed by this article in our Wiki. If you haven't already, you might consider browsing our Wiki; especially the articles Newbie Guide and Commonly Used Abbreviations.

Regardless of my role in this game, I won't mislead you about theory or proper gameplay. My role as an IC comes before my role in this game (and they're separate roles), so at times, you may see me putting my
    IC Hat On
    and then taking my
    IC Hat Off
    .

Because of my severe dislike of the RVS (you
    did
read the Common Abbreviations, didn't you? I'll wait.) I like to start off with RQS; the Random Question Stage!

    Forthwith:

    1) Are you having fun yet?

    2) Chocolate or vanilla?

    3) How many Mafia games have you played (here or elsewhere)?

    4) Lynch all Liars?

    5) Math or Sports?

    6) Lynch all Lurkers?

    7) What do
    you
    think of the RVS?

I'll post my answers soon, or after everyone, depending on consensus.
    ....what?

Oh, for Nobody Special's questions...which I have answered in our previous game, I'll answer them anyways.

    1. I am...wishing to have fun at the moment.

    2. Chocolate, natch.

    3. I have played two games here already.

    4. Yes. But we have to remember not all mafias lie.

    5. Maths. But I love table-tennis, soccer, and badminton.

    6. Lurkers? Well, saying less stuff makes the mafias conveniently survive (as less flaws and evidences will be found in their words) so lurking itself is suspicious. Have to say YES to lynching lurkers.

    7. Random Votes? I hate it.

    1) Are you having fun yet?

I am always having fun on MS

    2) Chocolate or vanilla?

    Vanilla

    3) How many Mafia games have you played (here or elsewhere)?

Here, not quite 10 I think. Loads and loads of f2f.

    4) Lynch all Liars?

Let's say we will and then assess the situation in context (I realise that I have just said I wont pretty much, but it is a newbie game and I dont want to mislead.

    5) Math or Sports?

    Darts

    6) Lynch all Lurkers?

    Repeat Lynch all liars response

    7) What do you think of the RVS?

Hate it. I prefer the RQS, I prefer even more real cases.

    6) I have a position on this I use in real-life games for people who aren't contributing, but I'll mention it if/when it comes to it.
    7) Either is fine, although RQS seems more focused at starting discussion relevant to the game which can give information.

If I told you, that would sort of ruin the point, wouldn't it? :P
I'll give a description of how it can be useful, I guess. There are a bunch of different things, not sure how many of them would work here.
There's the inspector claim when it's really your neighbor (doesn't work online),
The risky but effective fake inspector claim when you get a read you're sure of on someone (risky if the real inspector counterclaims or you're wrong)
Then of course there are also the scum lies, yes, but there are benefits as town to being somewhat suspicious.

Ok I am going to assume you are town for a moment and assume that last point doesnt belong to you.

I am going to request that you do not lie in any of those situations you have just described because it will just get you into deep doodoo. I play a lot of face to face mafia and liars in those situations are inadvisable. In a newbie game on this site I cannot conceive of a reason to lie. (IC back me up please if I am right of course)

Meanwhile your willing to lie warrants a serious vote at this stage. So I suggest we wagon chess!!!

In a newbie game I strongly feel there is no situation where it will help. If you can give one then I will hear you out, but at the moment I can't see it.

I would like to comment that a lot of things I use in real games rely somewhat on private communication, so perhaps deceit is not as useful in online mafia as it can be. Still, there is the implicit vanilla town role claim, the doctor never claiming unless it's at no or 1 mistake(s), since he can't save himself (I usually play he/she can, oh well).
This is rather off topic - can we compromise on I/anyone won't lie without good reason, and had better have an explanation of why, and be sure that they are actually helping town?

We know the possible setups. And there are no roles that would require lying. Perhaps as a Bulletproof it may be worth a lie if you need to draw a kill, but we know you are not any role that would need to lie. (the potential setups are in the OP)

So all this makes me think why would you lie. My conclusion you are scum laying the ground work for in case youi get caught in a lie later.

    After the cross post...

I suppose we can agree for you not to lie without good reason, so long as that means you dont lie. (I often play they can save themselves as well btw in real life)

Deceit is going to be a lot harder for you in online mafia. But why would you want to decieve us?

No claims for a good while yet at least!
