Rules
Voting, lynching, and deadline

To vote, bold the words “vote: playername” or use vote tags.
Though not strictly necessary, it is appreciated if you unvote before voting someone else.
It takes the votes of half of the living players, either plus 1 or rounded up, to lynch.
It takes half, rounded up, but not plus 1 to no-lynch.
Once the final vote has been cast, no further unvotes or votes will be counted.
If deadline hits with no majority, there will be no lynch that day.
If you have died, you may make one “bah” post the next day, as long as it does not say anything game related. In addition, if you've been lynched, you may continue to talk until I post the lynch scene.
Day deadline will be 3 weeks, with possible exceptions for replacements.
Night deadlines will be 72 hours, unless someone is replaced, in which case I will make a 2 day extension.
If you go without posting for 72 hours without providing advance notice of it(I don't check the V/LA thread), I will prod you. You then have 48 hours to respond. If you don't, I will replace you.

Etiquette

This is a game. Be respectful and have fun. Yes, you should play to win, but in my opinion, having fun is more important.
Do not post in small sizes, post in colors that blend in with the forum background, or in any way try to hinder the legibility of your posts.
Do not communicate about this game outside of this thread, unless otherwise stated in your role PM.
Quoting anything other than votecounts or rules from me is not allowed.
Teal
is my color. Using it will be considered impersonating the mod. Don't do it.
If you somehow can, don't edit or delete posts.
If you need to contact me, either PM me, or if it's something like incorrect votecounts, tell me in-thread.
Punishment depends on the severity of offense, up to and including modkills.

This game is run with a 2of4 set-up, which means there will be
  • 1
    Mafia Role-cop
  • 1
    Mafia Goon
  • 5
    Town Citizens
  • and two of the following with no duplicates.
  • Town Citizen
    (25%)
  • Town Cop
    (25%)
  • Town Doctor
    (25%)
  • Town Jailkeeper
    (25%)

The Mafia Role-cop can kill and investigate at the same time.
The Mafia must specify who performs the kill.
Here are sample Role PM's:
Town Citizen Role PM wrote:Welcome to Newbie XXXX, XXXX. You are a
Town Citizen.

You have no active abilities but your voice and your vote, which you are advised to use wisely.

You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.
The game is here. Confirm via PM.

Town Cop Role PM wrote:Welcome to Newbie XXXX, XXXX. You are a
Town Cop.

Each night, you may investigate one player, preferably in the form "Investigate: playername". I will truthfully tell you the alignment of the player you choose, unless a Jailkeeper is in existence and targets you.

You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.
The game is here. Confirm via PM.

Town Doctor Role PM wrote:Welcome to Newbie XXXX, XXXX. You are a
Town Doctor.

Each night, you may protect one player, preferably in form "Protect: playername". Unless a Jailkeeper is in existence and targets you, that person will be protected from death that night.

You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.
The game is here. Confirm via PM.

Town Jailkeeper Role PM wrote:Welcome to Newbie XXXX, XXXX. You are a
Town Jailkeeper.

Each night, you may jailkeep a player, preferably in the format "Jailkeep: Playername". That person will neither perform an action, or be killed.

You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.
The game is here. Confirm via PM.

Mafia Role-cop Role PM wrote:Welcome to Newbie XXXX, XXXX. You are a
Mafia Role-cop.

Each night, you or your partner can kill somebody, preferably in the format "Kill: Playername". Unless a protective role is in existence and targets that person, he will die. YOU MUST SPECIFY WHO PERFORMS THE KILL. In addition, each night you may role-cop someone, preferably in the format "Role-cop: Playername". Unless a jailkeeper is in existence and targets you, you will learn your targets role. You may role-cop and kill on the same night. Your partner is XXXX, a Mafia Goon. At night, you may communicate with him here.

You win when there are more mafia than town alive, or nothing can prevent that.
The game is here. Confirm via PM.

Mafia Goon Role PM wrote:Welcome to Newbie XXXX, XXXX. You are a
Mafia Goon.

Each night, you may kill one person, preferably in the form "Kill: playername". YOU MUST SPECIFY WHO PERFORMS THE KILL. Unless a Doctor or Jailkeeper is in existence, and that person, that person will die. Your partner is XXXX, a Mafia Role-cop. At night, you may communicate with him here.

You win when there are more mafia than town alive, or nothing can prevent that.
The game is here. Confirm via PM.

All role PM's are out. Day 1 will begin when 8 people confirm.

Hi, everyone!

I'm your friendly neighborhood Inexperienced Challenged player, or IC for short.

What that means, basically, is that I'm here to help guide you through the mystery that is MafiaScum.net.

If you have any questions about how we play here, feel free to ask me. My actions are governed by this article in our Wiki. If you haven't already, you might consider browsing our Wiki; especially the articles Newbie Guide and Commonly Used Abbreviations.

Regardless of my role in this game, I won't mislead you about theory or proper gameplay. My role as an IC comes before my role in this game (and they're separate roles), so at times, you may see me putting my
IC Hat On
and then taking my
IC Hat Off
.

Because of my severe dislike of the RVS (you
did
read the Common Abbreviations, didn't you? I'll wait.) I like to start off with RQS; the Random Question Stage!

Forthwith:

1) Are you having fun yet?

2) Chocolate or vanilla?

3) How many Mafia games have you played (here or elsewhere)?

4) Lynch all Liars?

5) Math or Sports?

6) Lynch all Lurkers?

7) What do
you
think of the RVS?

I'll post my answers soon, or after everyone, depending on consensus.
....what?

Hey, guys! Guess I should start with answering these questions.

1) Are you having fun yet?

I dunno, but I hope to have some fun with this game. This is the first time I'm playing in this set-up.

2) Chocolate or vanilla?

Chocolate.

3) How many Mafia games have you played (here or elsewhere)?

Two, ever. I started a third game a few months ago but had to be replaced due to massive amounts of school work. -_-

4) Lynch all Liars?

I suppose. I'm not really sure if there's any reason a townie would lie anyway...

5) Math or Sports?

Math, definitely.

6) Lynch all Lurkers?

Nah, just get them replaced.

7) What do you think of the RVS?

I guess it's a good start, but I wouldn't necessarily jump on any wagons unless we found some serious evidence.

Meh

1) Are you having fun yet?

Hopefully

2) Chocolate or vanilla?

Chocolate.

3) How many Mafia games have you played (here or elsewhere)?

Around six. Three here, three elsewhere, I am still getting use to this site :/

4) Lynch all Liars?

Depends on what the lie is. Lieing can be good in some situations.

5) Math or Sports?

Math, for the fucking win

6) Lynch all Lurkers?

Nah, just get them replaced.

7) What do you think of the RVS?

I guess it's a good start, but I wouldn't necessarily jump on any wagons unless we found some serious evidence.

I agree with with Angel with 6 and 7.. Might as well start with RVS.... changing ways o.o

1) Are you having fun yet?

Kinda.

2) Chocolate or vanilla?

Chocolate.

3) How many Mafia games have you played (here or elsewhere)?

No real games here (tried once but was quickly replaced), but I played several games elsewhere.

4) Lynch all Liars?

I guess, unless it is a gambit or something. But I am not sure if I would be able to tell a difference.

5) Math or Sports?

Math ftw

6) Lynch all Lurkers?

I don't think we should waste a vote like that. But I urge Moderator to be quick at replacing them.

7) What do you think of the RVS?

In RVS, I am policy voting anyone without avatar.

Nobody Special has an avatar. It is picture that says 'no avatar'. He probably put it there as a joke or something. Job really doesn't seem to have an avatar as seen here. I noticed that lat time I visited Newbie Game Queue. I find lack of avatars annoying because I have easier time remembering image than name.

Hello everyone, my name is Albert and I will also be able to assist you with theory-oriented questions. I have a laid back style of teaching mafia to newbies, maybe too laid back, so I've slouched into the comfortable role of semi-experienced for this game despite my extensive library of reference points acquired over 4 years and 200+ games.

But I'm not the star of the game. You, the newer players, have the spotlight on you. You will make many mistakes and Nobody Special and I will correct you. So learn as much as you can!

Many of you are semi-experienced already, so we assume that you know the basics (don't ever self-vote, wait for a claim before lynching, post often with your feedback). You guys are lucky because you will learn from the best, being able to pick up details that a true newbie would miss because everything is too new for him.

Vote: AngelxDeidrael
for taking so long to confirm.

NS, I hate RVQ, and part of looking inscrutable, cool, entertaining, dangerous and charismatic all at once comes from my avatar, so I guess we are polar opposites in that respect. And I also hate math, and your stupid questions.

You will have to make due with me being the anti-hero of this story lol

Then I guess you will have a hard time choosing between me and Albert.

As for those questions :

1) Why wouldn't I?

2) Vanilla kicks all kinds of ass.

3) Not much, I've modded a lot more than I've played.

4) No. I lie all the time, even when I tell the truth. Makes life more fun.

5) Sports, unless it's basketball.

6) That's a waste, and why they're replaced.

7) Quite useful in its uselessness.

And I don't intend to have an avatar soon. Deal with it.

@Nobody Special: I'm interested in why you're opposed to the RVS, would you mind explaining?

@Elfen: I understand you agree with me, but I noticed that you didn't write out your own answers for the last two questions. I'm not entirely sure why you consider participating in the RVS as "changing ways" when the answer I gave (and that you agreed with) was pretty neutral. Eh.. and I'm nit-picking, but we gotta start somewhere. ^_^;;

@Kalofer: Why do you think we should "lynch all lurkers"?

@Albert B. Rampage: What's wrong with answering questions? Do you have something to hide?

It just irritates me. It's pointless, because all you do is throw votes around like rotten tomatoes until someone gets mad at someone else, and then the real game starts. I figure we can start without all the game-playing and just talk until real discussion gets started.

I'm not entirely against it, but I've noticed (from the few games that I've played) that you can't really reference back to the RVS later on in the game either. I mean, I guess you can, but it's easier to find little clues in the way a person is answering their questions.

@Albert B. Rampage: Fair enough. We'll have to see how this all plays out.

Kalofer wrote:

Getting a replacement may be a safer option. If the person isn't contributing, we probably won't have enough content to justify a lynch anyway -- and lynching them simply because they're lurking seems like a huge waste of a lynch to me. I'm not saying that lurkers are never scum, but your answer wasn't very pro-town. We can never afford to lose townies at any point in the game.

@Everyone: What do you guys think of wall posts?
