Barring a reputation for notoriety, didn't just about everyone from the early days of MS get a title after enough time on the forums? Seems like it was almost an effortless thing then. What changed?
This is an old forum legend and has always been wrong. More 'old' scummers have titles because they've been around longer, but there's still only
a couple hundred
239 with titles, total. Of those, 24 joined in 2002, 33 in 2003, 28 in 2004, 40 in 2005, 22 in 2006, 50 in 2007, 29 in 2009, 11 in 2009, and 2 in 2010.

Oh look, JDodge is bent out of shape and argumentative. Nominate JDodge for
Accept it
.
Look, the way this title suggestion was brought to the community originally, sucked. Trying to reverse-engineer it into a scumchat reference is thin, at best. You may not like it, but Oman
has
been vested with a certain amount of discretionary power when it comes to Titles. He's been (much like his similarly-reviled predecessor) encouraging and discussing to what I consider a frankly ridiculous degree, considering the amount of abuse he gets for volunteering to do this.

That is so win. And yeah, where's your Paragon?
I guess I could throw that in but that would involve more effort than hotlinking Hoopla's scummies
I was hoping I could catch the cake too but that was a separate image.
So Vi's title changes to 'Best town mechanic behind the scenes' next year then right? >_>
"Best Town Professor Paragon Mechanic Behind the Scenes".
If I keep going with this my title will either take up three lines or stretch the sidebar across half the page.
Pretty sure your old Professor Paragon scummy image is still around somewhere, if that's what you're after...

Magna's is growing on me, but Thor's is not good. Faraday's I have no strong opinion on pro or con, though I prefer the "...should I be here?" construction.

Have you ever played with Thor before? He
always
makes references to the beard in his avatar, and it's caught on with other players. It's definitely the most distinctive feature of his posting style.
Yes, I have. I find him a quite good player, but that must have been pre-beard., And if he's driving the gimmick himself, why does he need to have a title that does the same thing?

Oman wrote:I'd prefer to leave Paragon of Mafia Hunters as a scummy title, and simply make reference. I'm not happy with the title system working as a "bypass" of the scummies. I've thought about this since Vi's title, and I felt that was unique (at the time, at least). Feel free to call me out.
Agreed; plus, Vi really embodied it.
We need to get your admin rights sorted out someday (still). Anyway, I'll add the other two titles tonight once I get off the road.

Didn't see it, but I like this new TF thread.
MythIC is okay. I still like NordIC better, and with Thor's explanation I understand the Beard part better, but still don't think it's title-worthy. That's sig stuff, if anything.

Mute wrote:On RC: it may be clever, but I can't get behind [numbers] for RC. It's one thread for one, not an amalgam of his character, and would you want to set a precedent for RC to have the (possibly?) first Title that's just numbers?
It's not just "one thread". It's THE archetypal RC thread, and specifically made by him for people to remind him when he is behaving badly.
I actually don't want it to be a link, because that will focus too much attention to that space. But he apparently still needs the reminder.

The whole Mute thing is terribad.
If we're down to those two/three choices, I vastly prefer NordIC to to either of the others. MythIC Beard is second, Mafia Scum is third, then NordIC Myth.

That was Scummie-based... unless he originated it. *goes back to check the old TF threads*
Ooookay, that was confusing. It was mentioned/nominated in the 2003-2006 thread, but he never got it (as evidenced by Fritzler's pop quiz on page 93). It also doesn't seem to be awarded in the Thok-era TF thread. It was already the name of the award for the 2003 Scummies... but he never 'won' it... AHA! hadn't gone back far enough. It dates back to when titles were self-nominated, before the original crash... that's kind of hilarious, actually. ::edit:: And Orbiting informs me that that was his title back on Grey Labyrinth, too, before there was even a MafiaScum.
Nominate IS for
Parody of Mafia Hunters
for his infuriating playstyle that somehow, works.

It's not the worst idea, but since we don't 'vote' anyway, it's sort of moot. I could see perhaps not allowing under-six-monthers to nominate new suggestions, but really I don't care much. Most of the problem behavior has NOT been from newbies, in my estimation.

False. There's a long-term retirement bump, but the longer you're on site the longer you tend to stay, in general. Most dropoffs happen in the first couple of months.
Quag
had
a title. When it didn't work/fit anymore, he asked for it to go.
