Discuss title policy here. Actual title nominations should be posted in the title fairy thread instead.

While this may simply take the form of drawing attention to them in site chat or the MS Discord, I also think there may be benefit to reaching out directly to parties I think may be interested. I'm a little concerned that even a "Hey, here's a link to a discussion that might interest you, let me know if you would like me to not send you any more PMs like this in the future!" PM might be annoying to some users, but I think there would be a lot of value in getting people involved in the titling process who otherwise wouldn't be.
this is very similar to a thing I brought up in my application and I think it's a very good idea—if someone nominates someone else for a title based on something that happened in a game, sending a PM to the moderator and other players saying "hey, can you weigh in on whether this seems like a good title based on what happened in the game?" is a good way to get relevant opinions from the most informed parties.

I don't have a good answer to this if I have to consider every title in the entire history of MS, but if restricted to only titles given under Psyche, my favorites are probably Hell in a Cell and Deus ex Machina.

The important parts of my application are summarized in the OP of this thread, so just read that imo

Can I have my title removed please? It's a relic like me. (Is this the right place to post?)

Close enough for now.

New title thread should go up today sometime after SUPP finishes so if anyone wants to give any last minute feedback on titles or the titling process going forward before that happens, now would be an excellent time!

Maybe also PM Mish mash folks for a Mish mash title as well. Like a LSG title PM others in that game.

do past bad titles set a precedent for further bad titles? or should each title be discussed on its own merit, independent of the decisions of previous fairies?

I do think occasionally altering the title fairy thread's title every once and a while is part of the charm of a title fairy for what it's worth.

The problem is that when this thread becomes a shitposting thread for those users, it becomes a thread in which almost no one else wants to participate. No offense to all of you lovelies who frequent this thread, but you're a pretty small slice of the site.
Ur only participants are shitposters. In fact those participants are about half maybe a 3rd of MS’ population.

The question is why and how to expand the population of the title fairy thread.

The bigger overarching problem is that MS is dieing.
If u expand the population of the site then the population of the title fairy thread takes care of itself.

For the record, since it was suggested in the thread itself, I don't think the title fairy thread is dying. It's receiving very few posts when titles aren't being nominated and that's not a problem. I could
maybe
be convinced that I should be doing something to call attention to the thread when nothing is happening, but it would need to be something more elegant than a contentless bump to the thread itself, which doesn't do much to change whether or not anyone has a title to nominate.

What I do think poses somewhat of an issue, and not necessarily a new one, is that the title fairy thread doesn't reach every corner of the site. We got a fun example of that with the title nomination for hiplop, which was based largely on happenings in the Large Social Game subforum. It immediately received a bunch of nths, but they were mostly from people with literally 0 posts in LSG. Awkward! I wound up reaching out to some people who would have a better idea of what was going on with the title and begging them to post and they were all amazing human beings about it and things were able to return to normal order pretty quickly, but it highlights what I believe to currently be the primary shortcoming of the thread - it appeals primarily to too narrow of a demographic within the site.

Reaching out directly to people who might have valuable contributions to make to a particular title discussion has proven effective so far, but it's a limited approach that only reaches a small number of users and that might or might not bring people to the thread who will want to continue posting there in the future. I'd said I was considering trying to draw more attention to active title discussions perhaps through site chat or the MS discord, but I've shied away from any such thing thus far because, while it seemed like a good idea to me in the abstract, in practice I've been concerned it would make things uncomfortable somehow for the potential titlee to have that happen under their nose. I wonder if perhaps I should be trying to do something of that sort anyway, in the hopes of reaching a wider group of users, some of whom might be interested in participating in the thread in the future.

I don't know. Am I wrong about this specifically being a problem? Is there a bigger problem to be dealt with? Is there a solution worth pursuing?

Honestly I would love it if at the end of every game, someone linked to the title thread, similarly to how this was/will be done for the scummies. (We still are working on refining the announcement as to make it more appealing and less spacious.)

Frankly, I personally would even want to combine the two, telling users after each game, "hey, was something here notable? You can let it be known in these spots!"
But that's probably just me.
