The Traitor is recruited through being a nightkill target only.

a bit interesting since doctors can choose to attempt to prevent a recruit, or simply protect town. the suicide bomber + traitor combo makes for a weak enough scumteam for 6p imo without too many special mechanics

I've been a fan of the setup Empking used in mini 1097 (simple mafia) and I intend to run it this weekend.

9p
1 mafia godfather (with a weak heart)
1 mafia goon (who's his nephew)
7 VT's

night 2, the mafia godfather dies unless he's been able to get a heart transplant (from his lynched nephew). Or in other words, the GF dies n2 unless the goon got lynched before that.

Beloved Princess is version that only skips next day if lynched. Vanillaize resolves before PGO.

This has got to be one of the all-time legendarily elegant setups.

This is an idea I've been toying with for a game here on the forums, so I'll post it here as it might be interesting for F2F play as well (and uses a few of the roles stated in OP as needing use)

Not Yet Named (13p)

1 Town Bodyguard
1 Town Cop
1 Mafia Roleblocker
2 Mafia Goon

I use the Bodyguard instead of a full Doctor to get around "follow the cop". The cop can be protected.. once. Roleblocker is there cause town still feels a bit powerful, though he can of course shut down the cop if outed and might be a bit too strong here.

Thoughts?

Consensus among the players, some of which played in both runs and my experience modding it, is that the setup is properly balanced and fun to play.
