[SETUP] United We Stand, Separated We Fall

Roles1.
1. Town A 2-Shot Vigilante
2. Town A Cop
3. Town A Vanilla
4. Town A Vanilla
5. Town A Vanilla

6. Town B 1-Shot Vigilante
7. Town B 1-Shot Cop
8. Town B Vanilla
9. Town B Vanilla
10. Town B Vanilla
11. Town B Vanilla

12. Mafia 1-Shot Neopolitan
13. Mafia Goon

13. Mafia Traitor

Mechanics
  • White flag is employed for both towns.
  • Game plays out until the outcome is fixed; one town having more members with mafia does not equal an automatic win. The moderator may call the game early if everyone alive truthfully massclaim their alignment and all the mafia are dead.
  • The Traitor is unrecruitable and can be killed by mafia. In addition, they are automatically endgamed if they are the only one remaining.
  • This game must be run with plurality lynches.
  • It is possible for both towns to tie.

  • Town A gets tiebreaker edge.
  • Only the Goons know each other. The Traitor knows the Goons but the Goons don't know the Traitor. Everyone else is completely uninformed.
  • In Scorched Earh, every faction alive before Scorched Earth ties.

It goes against the basic concept of an uninformed minority, which is the core of standard Mafia. There's something unfortunate about town reading someone for being obv town, but they're the OTHER town faction. Like, it's basically a role madness type structure, and at that point it's almost worth just making it all roles or something.

Another alternative would be to make town A strong roles but fewer #s while town b is weak roles but greater #s.

Something like:

Town A
Odd night vig
1-shot bp
Even night jk
Doctor

Town B
Faction cop
Vt
Vt
Vt
Vt

Mafia
Goon

Conq: you, sir, are great at being town.
BATMAN: Only jugg was the only one we didn’t scum read at least not me
Quick: There is little to no chance this slot is Power-Wolfing.
SR: I want to give him a day
Life is simply unfair, don't you think?

This looks like a format I saw on Starmen.net's older games where there were 2 games that would eventually unite.
<Embrace The Void>

My pronouns are she and it, please respect that. I don't mind the occasional slip.

Which town wins has more to do with luck than with skill. This game is basically a crapshoot in which no one has any incentive to work together.

I think this sort of game works better if both towns have the chance to win together. Say, make it 5:5:3 with White Flag for each town individually (and a bunch of power roles, obviously). Every townie can win by eliminating scum fast enough, but if the game goes long, one or the other town faction is likely to fall by the wayside.
scum
· scam · seam · team · term · tern · torn ·
town
