Is this fun? Assuming a playerlist that likes dayplay more than nightplay, does this mechanic add something interesting? Is there an existing setup (like Cul-de-sac maybe, or one of the white flag setups) that this would be a fun addition to?
Perhaps more importantly, would scum actually use their 8-ball, or would it reveal too much information to town to be worth it?

This probably doesn't work at 10:3 simply because it would take too long (those numbers are probably also townsided, although it's hard to know with a mechanic like this).
This could be fixed by making the game smaller. The correct size is probably 6:2, assuming vanilla and that the 8-ball simply gives scum a kill.
I think scum would use their 8-ball (assuming that it's only revealed who it is if the 8-ball actually gets lynched). It might be interesting to reveal the 8-ball at the end of the day regardless, although that would presumably have a major balance impact (possibly making 6:2 too townsided, but 5:2 may still be too scumsided, so perhaps there are no numbers that work for it).
this can lead to a draw after a mislynch in LYLO but the lynch isn't the 8 ball
ie. 2 scum 3 town
=> town mislynch, but not 8 ball
=> no night kill
=> 2 scum 2 town
=> town will never lynch anyone because they know scum will never vote the other scum, and even if scum vote no lynch they do not get a night kill
=> neither side can make progress
2 scum 2 town is an automatic scum win in Nightless, which is what this setup is. (In regular Nightless games, scum couldn't get the decisive kill at all!)
If you don't like that rule existing, you could just allow the scum to 8-ball "no lynch", and solve the problem that way.
yeah 2v2 day phase is scum win in most PR-less setups

Is it still interesting that small?

okay yes this is definitely still interesting enough at a small size. Wow and suddenly it's like a real setup. If I ever modded anything I would try it out
Assuming that the game is otherwise vanilla, and that the effect of the 8-ball is that scum get a kill when it's lynched and no kill when it isn't, and that the 8-ball is only revealed if it actually gets lynched that day, I believe 6:2 is the correct numbers.
I think 4:2 or 3:1 is extremely interesting in this setup, though it's possible to have a game with neither of those gamestates
I would /in your game @tw
