The Red Scare

9 player:

1 Communist Roleblocker
1 Communist Backup Roleblocker

2 Town Masons
1 Town Cop
1 Town Doctor
1 Town Roleblocker
1 Town Tracker
1 Town Ascetic

  • Whenever a Communist is lynched, they are given the opportunity to publicly guess the roles of all living town players. If they are correct, the game ends in a Communist victory.
  • Communists also win if Communists equal or outnumber town.
  • Communists have a factional Rolecop or a factional Kill.
  • If a no lynch occurs, Communists privately select a player to be lynched.
  • Communists can multitask (factional ability + role ability in same night.)

I think I already tried posting a setup like this but let me know if not. Probably obvious breaking strategy I'm missing.

I'm not sure how to do anti-claiming strategies, but doesn't Follow the Cop still work to some extent?

Also, what neighbourhood PT?

Forgive that, old version, I'll delete.

You're right, you can still follow the cop. I'll give Mafia a Roleblocker.

How much of this information is public?

You have this in open setup discussion, but the alternative win condition involves guessing available roles.

It also makes a difference with what strategy can be used.

Oh I'm dumb.. by guessing roles you mean "player x is y" etc. Not "town has x,y,z roles still alive".

Interesting.. to some extent it still makes sense for cop to claim day 1 I think, though I'd need to check every scenario.

Doc secretly protects them. Tracker and roleblocker hope to catch scum as pseudo cops.

Mafia would just roleblock the cop if they tried to do follow the cop.

Cop lives though, which is important.

You let RB/tracker do the rest.

You have masons, rb, doc, tracker and cop. Scum on the other hand can at most, block 1PR and kill another. I think by start of day 2 you can get at least 3 confirmed town, easily more, plus a chance to get a guilty.

I think cop claim and no lynch day 1 is a viable strategy and I think scum are forced to no kill just to mess with town results.

Feels town-sided as is.

Obviously nobody claims until 1 person gets a guilty. You let the soft clears stay soft and secret.

I'm a bad reader lol no lynch means scum can kill. So just cop claims day 1 and that's it. Scum is forced to either block them every night, or risk losing by trying to block the doc and shoot the cop.

The more I think about it the more I realize it's a pretty genius setup.

I think if scum and town are equally skilled town will win more, but it's not as town-sided as I first thought, because the 2nd time scum guesses will likely be at a point where they only have to guess 4 or even just 3 PRs (unless scum get lynched day 1 in which case town likelihood to win shoots up).

Masons have a very important job here, they really have to mess with the associatives so scum guess wrong and if they can bait a rolecop/kill it's even better.

Wouldn't you play this like AITP? Discussion helps scum more than town, it serms.

You can still scumhunt without claims

And role-less scumhunting should yield a better win rate than random lynching

Guessing the masons certainly gets easier for scum if discussion occurs, don't know about the other PRs. Then again, people also openly scumhunt in Masons vs. Mafia. In practice, people will probably play the game as intended.
