[SETUP]Mafia Duel

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Mar 18, 2019 9:03 pm

2 Players, roles out of:
Vanilla Townie
Vanilla Townie
Vanilla Townie
Mafia Goon

10 Targets:
8 Town
2 Mafia

Coin is flipped to determine starting player.

VTs are informed of one town target.
Mafia is informed who both Mafia targets are.

Players take turns shooting targets publicly in thread, killing the target and revealing the Targets alignment. After both players fire, either a random town target is killed OR Mafia select one privately to kill.

If Mafia Targets equal or exceed Town Targets, Mafia win or just Town loses.
If all Mafia Targets are eliminated, players go into a duel.

Town have one bullet, Mafia have a blank gun that does nothing. Players must privately
Shoot
or
Don't shoot
.

If two Townies do not shoot each other, they win.
If a Townie shoots another Townie, both loses.
If a Townie shoots Mafia, he wins
If Mafia does not get shot, he wins.

Does this exist already?

EV for town has got to be god awful.

Are the Targets actual people who talk in thread? Or hypothetical constructs? (It doesn't matter for EV but it does matter a lot to how the setup plays out.)

The endgame is the 2p variant of Conspiracy; I assume the game before that is to try to determine the players' alignments. FWIW, I suspect that the best play in the Conspiracy endgame is to never shoot, because the odds of living through the first part of the setup in the town+scum situation are very low, and surviving it in the town+town version, while still unlikely, is a bit more viable. Optimal town strategy may be to claim which of the slots you know to be town, and just concede that you'll automatically lose the town+scum setup because you'll never shoot the scum slot that a scum opponent claims as town.
