[SETUP] Predict the Kill
2 Mafia Goons
7 Vanilla Townies
Lynching and killing are compulsive.
Every Night, each townie may guess the night kill, and may not guess themselves. Town gets 1 point for every correct guess. Furthermore, the Mafia may give the town 1 point every Night.
The number of points earned every Night is announced at the start of the next Day. Town wins by lynching both Mafia or by earning a total of 7 points. Mafia immediately win at 50%.
Unsure of the balance, 7 points may be a bit too much, but a mass claim lets town get information every Day.-

Yes. Points once earned are earned permanently for the game.- Irrelephant11

9 > 7 with ~1 point > 5 with ~3 points > 3 with ~4-5 points
Yeah okay this is interesting
It could end up functioning more like a public doctor action if town decides to use it that way
Which is then real WIFOM-y
I’m into itHey all! Excited and nervous to play my first game with you!

This is tricky to calculate the balance of. I think I'd almost like to see it run with someone trying to break it.
I think it's probably fairly close to balanced tho, possibly scumsided? I can't think of a way to break it right away. I'd definitely try it.- BNL

Yes, I have planned around that by letting scum give points every Night.
I don't think a breaking strategy can be formed. Any strategy that give points I can see as giving town 1 point every Night, which isn't enough to win the game.
Looking back, I think 7 points is quite a tall order for town. Scum shouldn't need to be giving town points that often. I think 5 points may be better for this setup.
I'm also thinking of changing the Mafia win condition to having to kill all the townies, as opposed to just achieving 50%. This gives town a chance to win 2:3 after having mislynched if they already have 4 points, and also reducing swing a bit.- popsofctown

Predicting the kill seems really unfun for me. Maybe players who are at least kind of good at predicting would enjoy this game. I'm surprised by every single nightkill ever when I play mafia, though.
You could go wackier with it and remove factional talk from the mafia and make goon A try to guess goon B's kills.
I've no clue of balance."Let us say that you are right and there are two worlds. How much, then, is this 'other world' worth to you? What do you have there that you do not have here? Money? Power? Something worth causing the prince so much pain for?'"
"Well, I..."
"What? Nothing? You would make the prince suffer over... nothing?"- BNL

Hmm... really? I really wanted a game that rewards townies for predicting the nightkill, so that aspect of the setup won't be going away.
I like that it encourages the Mafia to make non-obvious nightkills.- popsofctown

I do like that part."Let us say that you are right and there are two worlds. How much, then, is this 'other world' worth to you? What do you have there that you do not have here? Money? Power? Something worth causing the prince so much pain for?'"

Yeah, that's the bit I'm on board with. 2:7 and 5 (maybe 6?) points with parity wincon seems about right.
Personally I think the guessing the night-kill thing is cute. Separating the list into two halves and guessing obvtown players is also very effective; forcing scum to make lower-tier nightkills is a great way to spice up mountainous games.
The only thing I don'ttttt really like is giving town the ability to win after a losing mislynch in lylo. I think it's important when considering semi-mountainous games that scum aren't cheated out of a win by playing technically well.
I'm not sure the point of the points is to actually win town the game all that often, so much as to discourage scum from making obvious NK choices. if that makes sense.- callforjudgement

This is an awesome idea.In post 11, callforjudgement wrote:I suddenly have the urge to try to combine this with 8-ball somehow.
It would have to be a deviation from the norm given it would be insanely hard for town to get many points if scum only had ~1-2 kills per game.- Irrelephant11

8-ball
Anyone who correctly guesses a nightkill is lynchproof For one game day(this is told to them by PM)
Mafia who are not performing the kill can guess the kill if they want
Lynching someone lynchproof ends the day without a death. If the 8-ball is lynched this way, mafia get a nightkill. Otherwise, all lynchproof-statuses fade and a new game day begins.
8-ball but with MORE paranoia wifom!!Hey all! Excited and nervous to play my first game with you!

Mind if I put up a thread for that when I get home? "snookered" is obviously the right name for it
I know it's more or less a meme setup but the level of 3d chess might be fun. - the worst
