3 Vengeful Mafia

Each day before 50% of the deadline is reached, players must grow a crystal. The player chooses its color, and whether it is
townie
or
scummy
inside (town have little reason to choose the latter). There is
red
,
orange
,
yellow
,
green
,
blue
, and
violet
. Players can't grow crystals in a color they already have. Crystal color is public but crystal alignment is not.
Players cannot be voted directly, but their crystals can be voted. Majority voting a crystal destroys it and reveals its alignment. When a
scummy
crystal is destroyed all other crystals with the same owner are destroyed and the crystal's owner flipped and removed from the game.
Crystal growth is mandatory, if a player forgets to grow a crystal, the mafia pick one matching that player's alignment to be grown.
Night zero and each night, instead of a kill, the mafia may choose a town player whose crystal grown that day will be hollow. Hollow crystals aren't counted towards win conditions. If they are destroyed, it isn't shown that they were hollow, just the alignment.
The mafia wins when there is a
scummy
crystal of each color at the end of a night phase.
The town wins when there are two
townie
crystals of each color, owned by townies (townie crystals in mafia possession don't count for anyone, just like hollow crystals.) at the end of a night phase. Scum wins ties.

It seems a bit rough to figure out how to play - moreso as mafia, but also at all tbh. The townies will never die unless a mafia player is elim'd, maf can choose to make a town crystals to slow down the game and give them a chance of surviving a potential 'elim', the game as a whole can also try to make a strategy where everyone's color is dictated in advance (for example everyone has to make one of red/orange/yellow the first two nights) and scum have to figure out how to make at least one scummy crystal of each AND make sure that those crystals aren't elim'd or else they might get locked out of the game if their scum partners made townie crystals of those colors and those crystals aren't elim'd. And it's more complicated than that truthfully since there's also other possibilities to worry about like if town wants to just kill every crystal of one color until they hit a scummy one, then scum should prob change to making every crystal of that color townie until they think they can get away with someone who had one removed remaking that crystal but scummy, and etc etc.

As a separate mechanical note, if one player makes a crystal of every color and it's day 7 (because scum made town crystals and say every other violet crystal was elim'd of other players) do they replace a crystal or double up on a crystal or what exactly?

It seems more complicated mind-game than mafia but if that's what 9 people are looking for then it probably at least kind of works? One of the most reasonable strategies before getting too convoluted is probably something similar to <only the towniest 2 people can make new crystals of color X & possibly Y>
