[IRL] 4p Modless

This isn't so much a forum game as an in-person game but I came up with it over the summer and wanted to share the knowledge.

4 players, 8 cards.

3
Vanilla Townies
- a boring VT.
"Sheriff"
- checks someone for mafia status and flips them during the day if they are Mafia.
Doctor
- protects against one kill per night. multi-kills in one night will
2
Mafia Goons
- shares a night-kill.
Serial Killer
- kills one target at night.

You will also need two red markers ("kill"), a blue marker ("cop"), and a white marker ("heal") (colors can be changed). Preferably one should use backed cards to hide actions but in the games I played I just used glass marbles.

Shuffle role cards and give one to each player, leaving 4 in the center of the table. Place the markers in the center as well.

Look at your role card.

Spoiler: Proceedings
"All sleep." Use a hand over the eye or just boring shut eyes, just something that doesn't move your head so as to not give away your voice's position.

"Mafia, wake up, identify, and indicate your kill, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Mafia, sleep."

Mafia open eyes and place a "kill" marker in front of someone.

"Serial Killer, wake up, indicate your kill, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Serial Killer, sleep."

SK does the same.

"Sheriff, wake up, indicate your investigation, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Sheriff, sleep."

Sheriff places a "cop" marker in front of someone.

"Doctor, wake up, indicate your heal, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Doctor, sleep."

Doctor places a "heal" marker in front of someone.

"All awaken."

Remove 1 kill marker from each person who has a heal marker in front of them. If there are any outstanding kill markers, killed players flip.

Someone asks the person with the cop token in front of them "Are you a member of the Mafia?" If the answer is "yes", then that player flips.

Normal discussion, eliminate via majority/unanimous vote in case of 3 players. Dead players may not talk.

After the elim, dead players each take a role card from the middle, look at it, and assume that new role for the remainder of the game. If you have died twice in the game already, do not take a card. Go back to night phase after this.

Mafia win by absolute wipeout. Same with SK and Town.

In the case of 2 players remaining, here are the rules for tie-breaking:

Spoiler: Wins
Town + Town/PR = Town win

Scum + Scum = Scum win

Town + Scum = Scum win

Cop + Mafia = Town win

Mafia + SK = SK win

SK + Town = SK win

This is intended to be played many times over, as games take very little time to play. Offers lots of replayability.

Could you have a setup where there are no evils/minority town?

There are some unwinnable decks for town here. Likewise there are some unlosable setups for town.

The balance here is so hillariously off that it feels like an attempt to nerd snipe me into enumerating all the breaking combos.

It's a cute idea, though.

In this? Yep.

Noted. Kinda supposed to be just a way to play Mafia with four people and no mod, regardless of balance, and with shifting roles, a little bit of chaos.
