Left In A Cage

5 players:

4x Townie
1x Mafioso

Nightless.
When majority is reached, instead of the player being eliminated, they are instead put inside a cage. Players inside a cage cannot post or vote.
This continues until two uncaged players are left.
At this point, if one of the uncaged players is the mafioso, the mafia wins. Otherwise, the game continues.
Both uncaged players must then agree on a player to release from the cage.
If the player released from the cage is the mafioso, mafia wins.
If the player released from the cage is a townie, town wins.

using some rough math (75% * 66%), town EV should be about 50%

thoughts? it’s probably balanced but I don’t know if it’d be fun to actually play

games with only one mafia are generally considered to not be games of mafia at all, given that partner hunting is seen as sort of core to the game

that being said the setup could probably be fun, maybe as a marathon

seems a little tricky for scum, though. townhunting is generally seen as easier than scumhunting. plus, scum can't kill anyone, which tends to lead to in-practice winrates being above calculated EVs

Should be 40% town EV. For a nightless game that's probably okay.

I mean yeah it's not mafia but it's probably fine for a short quick game. My concern is that maybe people will just release whoever they cage D3, but perhaps the added info of two people being confirmed as town will lead them to rethink their decisions.
It's always the same. When you fire that first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die. You don't know whose children are going to scream and burn. How many hearts will be broken. How many lives shattered. How much blood will spill, until everybody does what they're always going to have to do from the very beginning... SIT DOWN AND TALK!
