Yeah, this game is definitely spy-favored. We went with the standard setup of the board game, so it must be the forum marathon nature that makes it easier for spies to win here.

Ive played the in person version 50+ times and ive found large setups to be incredibly swingy, where some games are super obviously town favoured or super obviously scum favoured. Being able to read people in person is what gives this game true depth imo. Its too easy for town to just get confused and off track here where in person you generally only have one or two conversations goong among the whole group. You can focus on eachc person a lot better there!

I was on every single mission as town and was widely townread and ID'd 2/3 of the spies but yeah I'm stupid and the worst player ever.

at the time I thought the only way for us to win was for people to see me as town because I thought they had you and ani pegged as scum

When Haschel and Drench were both spies on Mission 3 in Game 2, Haschel did a similar thing of hinting in thread for Drench to tank the mission

Yeah, it's had a pretty even winrate between resistance and spies in the past on this forum, but the marathon nature makes it a lot harder.

The idea is that partners are allowed to be helping their teammates out as much as they want during the games, so that's why Ani was able to swap in for randomidget.

So why not just get the best person to play the game? Plus, I can't speak for other teams, but the amount of behind the scenes help may be somewhat limited. We weren't given a PT or anything so we'd have had to coordinate together more than we have.

Like... there's definitely a difference between playing a game and helping a teammate play the game when it comes to scum hunting and avoiding being caught.

I think that's particularly true when the idea behind the game is "veterans vs. rookies."

Yeah, I didn't really think you were nefariously doing it. Just pointing out that there are some flaws with having a player sub in for his teammate like that.

It wasn't a perfect decision, and most of the modding we're doing in a fast-paced game such as this one has to be done on the fly. We would rather not just let the better player in each pair be the one playing each game, but when unforeseen circumstances arise, the best option we have is for their partner to take over.
