In my opinion, juries are already like this anyways. At least, each person cares the most about their personal impact on the game and as a finalist you have to figure out how to pander to that.In post 21, CuddlyCaucasian wrote:please don't encourage people to make narcissistic speeches and make everything about themelves

The only thing I want to add to BRO's post are these things:
1) Please don't attempt to be iconic. It's the easiest way to make you look like you're trying too hard to be remembered and that you don't care about who wins. Part of what made those speeches iconic is that you could feel the amount of passion from them. No one will stop you from analogies and whatnot, however.
2) Attacking a finalist is plain rude, especially in a forum (or real life) setting where you'll likely be playing with this person again at some point. Have your fun with the finalists, but attacking them could very well encur bans."Animorpherv1's posts are so powerful that prolonged exposure may cause vertigo, nausea, acute tinnitus, and in rare cases, death." - vonflare

Yeah, my main point is that anyone TRYING to be iconic comes off as a complete tryhard (see: Reed in SJDS). Sue in Borneo was great because she was honestly speaking her mind"CC is very [whatever the equivalent of photogenic as it applies to videos]" - racefan12

i feel like most of the internet community generally agrees that Reed's speech was pathetic, but it's also a pretty subjective thing haha"CC is very [whatever the equivalent of photogenic as it applies to videos]" - racefan12

The only thing that can really influence my vote is if one of the finalists brings something up i didnt know thats a big game move, good or bad, but ive never had a finalist sell me their story by fashioning it to look a certain way when i already knew the details of it before the ftc. Every finalist got to the end for a reason, i have my own values for what sort of game is most exciting to me and im going to choose that sort of game to win. I define my values as "looking for who played the most strategic and dynamic game" but thats sort of bullshit because I dont know how to even quantify that, but considering I need to put down a vote on someone I need to feel like I'm somehow creating a fair rubric to go by. I personally dont want to be sucked up to or try to be convinced by a finalist that i had some part in where the game went, it turns me off, but every juror is different. I just think the key is to spend some time thinking about what you know about each juror from your time talking to them and about what their values are.
I think an ideal ftc scenario and something ill at least try to do from now on, for online games specifically, is as a juror to think about what my values are about a game and explicitly list what I care about somewhere in my first post in my juror thread so finalists dont waste their time going for a certain angle that wont really have an impact on me specifically but might work for a different juror. I know in the past Ive like judged a finalist for going a certain route in their ftc strategy but its stupid to assume the finalists will know what I value especially if we werent super close allies, and I dont think being a super close ally should determine my vote - making my vote about who panders to me best gives my closer allies an inherent advantage because they know me better, of course they will be better at pandering me. But some other people want to see their closest allies win, I was like that in Survivor Eon.
Sort of rambling but my point is that jurors could help by being transparent with the finalists about what they're looking for, and finalists shouldn't expect that there is one thing each juror is looking for.
Also, Im of the opinion that if you already naturally have really strong feelings about some aspect of the game then sure, itll come off iconic when you figure out how to put those feelings into words, but I wouldnt go into an FTC trying to be iconic.SlappyKrust- xRECKONERx

I guess it depends on what it is, but saying you want to be convinced that some aspect of their game was better than the other finalists is prob not something with wiggle room for BS without it being obviousIn post 40, xRECKONERx wrote:I dunno I feel like if you tell a finalist what you want up front then they'll BS and give you that instead of being honest.
But being like "I want to know you cared about me / I was valued" is prob not worth bringing up bc that invites BS yeahSlappyKrust- Xalxe

I have cast three jury votes in online games.
One was because between the two finalists, one was clearly going to win. Everybody knew they were going to win, THEY probably knew it, but they sucked at Final Tribal. Don't know if they checked out or what. The other finalist I thought gave an excellent FTC performance, even against the odds, so I voted for them as a reward, knowing I was probably going to be one of two votes for them. Didn't think they'd win, didn't think they SHOULD win, but I felt they deserved reward for their performance.
My other two jury votes have simply come down to a gut feeling. When the time came to write down a name as the winner of the game, I only felt really good about writing one name down, so I did it. Don't think Final Tribal did much for me, don't know that it changed anything, but I simply liked the person whose name I wrote down the most and felt they should win."I, too, would prefer to know the Xalxe of my demise." - Felissan, 2022

I've cast 6 jury votes total b/w live games and f2f/hybrids (to my recollection - I may be missing 1 or 2).
1 of the times (Survivor Meet), I knew 100% who I wanted to vote for in FTC.
1 of the times I knew who I was absolutely NOT voting for in an F3, but it was up in the air b/w the other two. My FTC speech was super fucking angry to the point that it almost ended a friendship (and I fully intended for it to end that friendship when I wrote it).
The rest of the times I didn't know who I was going to vote for. None of those cases were completely identical, but it usually came down to there being a lot of symmetry b/w the finalists in terms of how I perceived their strategic and social play (either because I hadn't worked a ton with any of them, or because the F2/F3 kind of did every move together). I don't think it's necessarily uncommon for jurors not to know who their voting for, although I think it's gotten rarer over time (both in real Survivor and in games that I've played).- xRECKONERx

With my jury vote, I just usually gut-reaction it. The way I play I'm not often a huge factor in the finalists' games, so there's not much left to hash out. It's usually the person whom I was closest to.There will be no kisses tonight
