This. My games where I connected with people the most were the ones that I was just honest about my background and passion. Eon it was fine bc noone knew me in mish mash yet, but DBZ it was probably crossing some line because it's SO obvious that its me when I talk about med school. Idk, I guess I shouldnt talk about it at all if anonymity is important but its really hard to make up a background and seem genuine about it and connect with people about it. Or I just brush off questions about my personal life which is a shitty way to connect with people. It's that med school is 99% of my life because its all consuming, so Idk what to do without just degrading my social game.

Edit: btw to clarify, I will in the future not bring up med school because I get it, it does impact the game, but it's frustrating kween

Ya that was shitty of me in that context

If it helps MattP, I don't mention my background much either. There are lots of people who know I work in Film so mentioning it can be a dead giveaway.

I just say I'd rather not give hints to my I.D.

Personal Life just always interferes.

I try to avoid asking questions about other peoples, it means I might not connect as well, but I still insert some random factoid occassionall.y

I kept telling people about my busy day in the office swimming in paperwork in the mornings (I don't work in the morning ew). Being able to log on at work helps alot in hiding my hours.

Yeah I think part of it is just holding back a little on certain things. I know what would point me out so I nudge things a little so that it's half-truths. Like all of Nexus I said I worked in an office, not a library. I didn't reference shopping, or meetings, or Oreos, and stray away from musical tastes . . .

But there are definitely certain ways of posting that are hard to break. hiplop, for example will post lowercase and with occasional spelling errors, specifically as though he hit the wrong key on the keyboard. That's something camping trips or accounting can't cover up hunty! Speaking of hunty, Drench can actually do it for a while but once he's comfortable with you he descends into hunties and sweaties and if you read his Twitter it's kind of obvious :P But like, with both of these people, knowing their ID kind of negatively affected them from where I stood. Like I knew Diablo was hiplop but pushed for him a bit because I wasn't sure what he would actually do come merge, especially with that ID knowledge. And with Drench, I like Drench a lot and it would be neat for him to win but I had to separate the ID knowledge from Azmodan . . . and hey, maybe I separated too far. We'll never know! #XYZleadstoABC

This will also not surprise any of you but I'm just now learning that many of you know each other. To the purists out there: given 1000 guesses, I would not have ID'd any of you. Because I don't know any of you. And because I'm too busy looking at my hair in the mirror.

But in all seriousness I'm not sure it's worth worrying about. I'm glad you're all friends IRL. The camaraderie showed, and gave the game life. I don't know the first thing about bella but if she's actually upset the day after winning a game I had so much fun playing that kind of bums me out.

I literally don't talk about any of these things except the hot guys part (minus the gym since I don't actually go to gyms anymore)
this wasn't about you, this was about a fictional person named JOESeidon

But then it wouldn't be a fictional person anymore

Usually what gives me away is when I talk about which Play or Musical I am doing at the time, I think this is how Xalxe Id'd me in DBZ, because I had posted it about the shows on facebook or something like that.
