What do we want this to be?

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Thu Feb 09, 2017 4:25 pm

Post by BROseidon »

Hey everyone!

So, after a conversation with Xof on Skype, I've decided to create this thread to ask the very simple question of what we want this to be. Obviously signups for Large Social Games will occur here, but there's a lot of other stuff we could put here.

A few initial ideas:

1) Get the new newbie guide (or move the old one) in here
2) Challenge idea discussion (including repository of "good challenges" from previous games)
3) Large Social Game Design discussion

Any other ideas/thoughts people?

A thread for newbies to ask questions, in addition to the guide.

Discussion of strategy/theory based on past games?

The newbie guide has become Newbie Guide and also we discuss newbieness and guides to play existentially, it should be here for completeness sake like an old discussion thread even if we make a new 'official' guide I think. How can there be a place to put good challenges when they are all terrible? :( Having a place here to continue BRO vs Hashy Codenames would be great.

Get to Know a Survivor, maybe? I don't actually know anything about the GTKAS subforum, but people seem to like it. Though that wouldn't help with the playing by player meta.

As I said in the pinned topic, I don't really know what purpose this forum would have, even if it is a major part of the site now. Right now the MLS signup thread in the main Mash forum is still active. Is that something that will continue to happen, or will signups be exclusively here going forward?

Right now it looks like anyone can start a topic, so you could just let people post whatever they wanted, as long as it is related to large social games in some way. Meta, Strategy, Challenge ideas, both ones that have been done or seeing what people think about a new generic challenge type, the Worst Survivor Twists topic from a while back, stuff like that.

Speaking of that, are old threads going to be moved here? Specifically signups, but there have been a few discussion topics specifically about social games. Most of those are outdated though, and it would be annoying if people started randomly necroing them. The rankdown could be put in here also, likely allowing it to get even more neglected.
Never be sorry for your little time.

It's not when you get there, it's always the climb.

Thanks BRO, packing for trips is very busy things. And I very much want community input.
For history's sake, the old one will be here, but a new one will be written that is much more basic as the original was meant to be. Less about gameplay and simply about how Survivors even work. We have ideas for the second two points, but discussion is always appreciated :)
Past game strategy chat and newbie question asking thread is great.
Good question about the minivivors. They may end up here, they may stay in Mish Mash. Dunno yet. But good question.
I love the idea of get to know a Survivor KA, that's a really good idea. Especially if done more as a "Tell us about your game related views. How did you win/place well in this past survivor?" things like that. And yes, I am very much letting this be a Large Social Games discussion area too. It just being for games and the threads related to signups seems a waste of a beautiful forum space. Old threads will be moved here, just haven't yet. I kind of want the threads in one space because these have had a lot of history, and it saves time of people having to search out all the old threads. What will be here and won't be is still in the process of being determined, but any and all input is appreciated :)
One thing I will say is that if discussion about ongoing seasons moves here, spoilers being tagged will be insisted upon, even if I have to go through and spoiler tag every post myself. Spoilering ongoing seasons without people having the choice about whether they see it or not is bad times friends, don't do it.

Archive old threads here, I like GTKAS discussions here. Review requests, theme testing, etc.

Even if some users are mishmash-only, they're still scummers. Why segregate them off? I don't think the point of this was to create a site-within-a-site.

No, that's not what I think we meant. It's an additional thing. Not like replacing GTKAS but like a similar sort of thing that is more like confessional interviews in a way?

We could, we could also do other things. It's very flexible and still to be determined! :D

I think all the stuff that has previous been on the wiki and whatnot should move into threads.

While this is correct, I think spending a bit of time in discussion about what we want this to be so that we can all set expectations is a good idea.

No, you all shouldn't. This is simply asking for your input on things, not a free-for-all. We would like ideas, but do not just do things first. While this forum is technically open, it is NOT setup by any means. This is very temporary transition period while those things are being made and decided. While we want your input, please do not make anything new on your own. BRO made this thread because he asked permission and I told him that yes, this was okay.

I did love the exit interviews from LoL. Will we have to curse out our enemies less though?
