Looking for a Large Social Game to play? Want to see what games are entering signups soon? Ready to run your own game? This thread will tell you everything you need to know.

How to add a game to the Queue

This thread is for games that are currently ready to be run. If your game is still in the design phase, please use the Upcoming Game Ideas thread.

First off, please make sure you meet the requirements to moderate a Large Social Game:

  • All games must have three people on the moderating team. It is up to you how the division of duties will be handled, and it is up to you whether the game has three co-mods or two co-mods and a backup moderator for when the main moderators cannot access the forum, but there must be three people. Pairs who have successfully run a game in the past with no major issues may request a waiver from this requirement.
  • If anybody on the moderation team has never moderated a game before, then at least one of the other co-mods must have two or more games moderated with no major issues.
  • Moderators with a recent history of serious problems in their games may also be required to have a co-mod with 2+ problem-free games. Some of these problems include but are not limited to: Flaking, anonymity breaches, inappropriate mod interference, and game-breaking imbalances.
  • All moderators must have at least completed one game onsite or been a member of MafiaScum for at least 3 months.
  • Unlike the Mafia queues, off-site games MAY be counted towards moderating experience at the discretion of the Large Social Game moderators.

Next, have an experienced player or moderator review your game. The purpose of a review is to have an objective person make sure there are no glaring flaws with your design. You are not required to change your set-up if a reviewer makes suggestions, but it is highly recommended that you take their guidance under advisement; a lot of times a fresh set of eyes will notice unbalanced mechanics or challenges that will fail to run smoothly that you and your co-moderators may have missed.

Finally, please post answers to the following questions:

  • Game name -
  • Moderators -
  • Number of Players -
  • Reviewer(s) -
  • Does this game feature unusual mechanics that players should be aware of prior to signing up? -
  • Challenge posts are completed -
  • Challenges have been tested/reviewed and are playable -
  • All reward items have been reviewed and approved -

Once you have answered these questions, congratulations! Your game will officially be added to the Queue!

When will my game be ran?

Right now we are currently trying to stagger the starts of the games, depending on interest from players and how many games are currently in the Queue. The general rule is that a new game will go into signups when the most recent game to have already started has eliminated 50% of the starting players. However, if there is a shortage of games ready to run, we may stop staggering.

A lot of games have been in the planning stages for a very long time, as evidenced by the Upcoming Game Ideas thread. However, a game's position in the Queue is based entirely on when the completed design is submitted to this thread. If your game reaches the top of the Queue and you are not able to run it immediately due to IRL conflicts, the game behind you may be permitted to run first. If this occurs for several game cycles your game may be removed from the Queue at the discretion of the Large Social Game moderators.

When your game starts to approach the top of the Queue, we request that one moderator not participate in the previous game so that they can pre-screen applications and remove any information about the ongoing game. Ideally, this would not be necessary and nobody would talk about ongoing games in their applications, but experience has suggested that this is not the case. Do not publicly announce which member of the moderating team is taking this responsibility.

Does this game feature unusual mechanics that players should be aware of prior to signing up? - Challenge-based eliminations. PMs have been largely eliminated from the game. Communication will take place in four rooms that players move between. There are a lot of live challenges which require perfect attendance.

Does this game feature unusual mechanics that players should be aware of prior to signing up? - PMs have been removed from this game and instead will feature small groups during each phase (more than just task day); there are no PMs in this game; PMs have been disabled and this is heavily featured in the rules post and application; Medevac's stamina and camp day returns; 12 hr deadlines for some phases.

All reward items have been reviewed and approved? - Still in review with our reviewer.

Does this game feature unusual mechanics that players should be aware of prior to signing up? - It is a challenge-centric game, and although there is a vote every round to determine who goes into the tougher elimination match, all eliminations will happen as a result of someone losing a challenge.
Challenge posts are completed - Yes
Challenges have been tested/reviewed and are playable - Yes
