I agree with Monty! This game sounds like a tremendous joy, and I miss out on all the opportunities to roleplay a Survivor castaway. This is a great concept; you're so fresh and innovative!

there are probs better seasons to roleplay if we're doing real survivor seasons imo. something like miallilens v gen x or gabon or a season like those might lend themselves better to a forum concept.

Like part of running diverse themes is to introduce people to cool shit.

My general take is that we have more need for mods than players. If a theme interests a mod and the game gets made because of that interest, then great. We have the players to fill most games. Most players don't care about theming nearly as much as mods do.

Also for what it's worth, I think pirate based challenges and mechanics might work well.

You could definitely do it, and people would play, but I find that the more obtuse and niche the theme, the more people bounce off of it.

Like everyone knows what a Pokemon is; people who are playing online Survivor probably know the castaways. Civilization worked because it was all historical figures. Then you get to stuff like LoL, DBZ, and Nexus, which were kind of question marks to me and a bunch of other people but the cast was colorful and diverse enough to make it work. Game of Thrones had a surge of popularity going for it, and it's cast is still fairly diverse appearance wise. If Black Sails truly is a better Game of Thrones, I guess it can also rely on this, but whereas most anyone can name drop Khaleesi or Jon Snow and then work down to your Sansas, Aryas, and Cerseis, I don't know how many people could name a main character from Black Sails?
