You guys are very different magic players than me I suspect, in terms of what we find fun in the game.
Also I drafted unstable exactly one time, and am not really interested in doing so again. But that one time is kind of a life highlight:

You should! There are loads of competitive magic events and I personally really enjoy the stake of competition. Something about grinding an all day event to progress somewhere farther feels way more realistic then becoming pro in anything else.
