The problem is that past games have really only had one of three different levels of communication: PMs only, PMs plus (something like #2016 with the pairs twist, or Bands with the single Chatzy, or Hogwarts with the teams), and no PMs or mostly irrelevant PMs (the Medevac games by design, Hyrule by accident because of the Chatzies). Maybe it’s just not necessary to have four levels for this, you could have just three (instead of 4-3-2-1, 4-2-1).

I don't think there are many games that were really shaped by their general discussion forums or shoutboxes, and if anything they have been getting less and less popular with time.

MLS should be considered fairly crazy, but we’ve seen crazier than a game that had exactly zero twists after the F12 short of a single hidden idol.

My opinion is that you’re allowed one swap per four rounds of the pre-merge without getting any twist points (meaning you’re allowed one if your pre-merge is four rounds or less, two if it’s eight or less, three if it’s between nine and twelve, and four if it’s anything more than that. Being in a tribe for three to four rounds is perfectly fine, but when you get to more than that consistently it can get unwieldy.

Size should matter but so should the merge timing.

But also, the show tends to have 18-20 players whereas our games are getting bigger and bigger.
