The Amazing Race will be a marathon game, with one leg per night on the following schedule. Please only sign up if you are available for a majority of the legs. If you cannot make a leg, you do have the ability to use a substitute, as explained further down.
In order to sign up, post in thread and then fill out the following Google Doc fully. You will be asked to select a team of two players; these can be real people, fictional characters or whatever you want. In addition to filling out the form, please send reference pictures of both of the members of your team to Xalxe so that he can create team pictures. If you have any questions, ask in-thread or PM Xalxe and CuddlyCaucasian.
Should more than 11 players sign up, we will evaluate applicants and choose our participants. If you are not chosen, you may still act as a substitute and follow along with the game. The final playerlist will be selected and announced on December 6th.
We will announce the starting time for each team the morning of the leg, which will be based on your finish on the previous leg. At the announced time, you will be PMed your first clue for the leg. Clues will be sent out by your assigned moderator, and the tasks will mostly be completed via PM with your moderator. We will respond to PMs in the order they come in, so please be patient; we have up to six teams to deal with at any one time!
Each leg, you will be assigned to either Xalxe or CC as your assigned moderator. Any communications for that leg will be conducted solely through this moderator, so please don't try to talk to the other one, they've got their own problems. At the end of the leg, a summary of the events will be provided and the elimination(s) will be announced.
If you are unavailable for a leg up to the Final 6, you may enlist a substitute to replace you. A sub may be any player who is not currently playing in the game (so you may enlist an eliminated player). They will be sent your team's stats and any other important information and will run the leg for you. Please notify us as far in advance as possible that you are using a sub so that we don't get confused.
The Route Info is the basic clue of the Race. Most of the time, a Route Info will direct you to travel to a new location. With this, you will also be provided with various means of transportation, each with a different travel time and monetary cost. You will need to select your method of travel in order to advance; times will be calculated from the time you send the PM to your moderator.
A Route Info may also entail other tasks. These will be conducted as specified in the clue.
A Detour is a choice between two tasks, each with its own pros and cons. For the race, a Detour will mostly be a choice between two tasks which you must personally complete, such as solving a puzzle or transcribing a speech. You must choose which one you will complete in order to get the full details on how to complete the task; there may be travel time needed in order to get to the task. You may switch sides of the Detour at any time, but there will be travel time between the tasks.
Skipping a Detour will incur a six-hour penalty.
A Roadblock is a task that only one team member may perform. You will be given a cryptic clue (ex: Who's ready to get wet), and based on this, you must choose the member of your team whose stats most likely match the task. The task will take a predetermined time based upon that person's stats; the better stats they have for the task, the faster they will complete it. You will be informed how long it will take to complete the task. There may be choices you must make throughout the task.
Each member of your team may only perform a maximum of six Roadblocks during the race. Skipping a Roadblock will incur a four-hour penalty.
Earning a Fast Forward allows a team to skip all remaining tasks on the leg and travel directly to the Pit Stop. Fast Forwards are not available on every leg, and they will often require teams to complete a difficult task to earn. A team may only use a Fast Forward once on the race.
A U-Turn is a chance to sabotage another team. If you reach the U-Turn and nobody has used it yet, you have the option to U-Turn another team, forcing them to complete the other side of the Detour before advancing. You will also have to indicate that you have used the U-Turn. A team may only use the U-Turn once during the race. There is also the possibility of a double U-Turn, where two teams can be U-Turned, or a Blind U-Turn, where the team using it does not have to take responsibility.
A Speed Bump is an extra task to slow down a team. If you are saved by a non-elimination leg, not only will you lose all cash you have on you, but you will also have to complete a Speed Bump on the next leg before progressing.
