SURVIVOR: Tundra of Thunder

Image

Welcome, traveler. It is most unfortunate that you should find yourselves here, of all places. Here, where there is no sun to show you the way, only the flash of lightning. Here, where you can travel for days, and never see another living soul. Here, where you may only find yourself at peace when you have been stricken down by the elements, or some force unknown. Indeed it is unfortunate, travelers, that you should come here. Here to the Tundra of Thunder.

Mod: Elias_the_Thief
Co-Mod/Backup: Blackberry

At the beginning, there will be 16. At the end, there can be only one.

Magus Tribe:

Wizardcat
(4)
Chance
(1)
Bethelmark
Pie is good
Flameaxe
Slash
PEG
Iammars
(5)

Gladius Tribe:

Roach
(2)
Farside22
Hasdgfas
OhGodMyLife
Skitzer
(3)
H2 da Tizzle
JordanA24
Bird1111

This will be another game of survivor based loosely on the CBS reality show of the same name. The contestants will be divided into two tribes, and will compete in weekly competitions. At the end of each week, one competitor will be voted out, until (after a series of twists and turns) there are only two remaining. The two remaining players will face a jury, composed of the booted players.

SURVIVOR: Tundra of Thunder - RULES:

(shamelessly stolen from BB)

1: You are allowed to talk with one another outside the thread. You may PM eachother, IM eachother, do whatever you please. It is encouraged to strategize with other players.

2: Challenges and Voting Periods will have deadlines. If you do not turn in your vote on time for Tribal Council, you will recieve a self-vote.

3: In the event of a tie, the players will revote. If a tie remains, then the contestants in the tie will compete in a challenge to stay in the game.

4: You may not vote for the person who has immunity.

5: My word is final, don't argue with the host (aka Me).

6: If you have any questions, feel free to post them here or to PM me.

7: Be active, post here on the thread and meet your deadline. For each deadline you miss you will recieve a strike. Once you have collected three strikes you will be required to sit out the next Immunity Challenge in order to redeem a strike. At the final four, strikes will no longer come into play. Deadlines include Challenges and Tribal Councils.

8: I will try to post challenges regularly, I’m planning for about 5 PM EST on any given afternoon. If this is a problem for you in terms of being able to participate, contact me before the first challenge begins and I’ll try to adapt the times. The further into the game we get, the less likely I am to change the times for one complaint.

Event 1: Tribal Division

You know not how you got here, or from whence you came, but here you are none the less. In the Tundra of Thunder. The constant booms of explosive electricity are coupled with winds the like of which you’ve never experienced, almost strong enough to pick you up right where you stand. Though there is no sun to speak of, the constant flash of lightning illuminates your world enough to make out your general surroundings. Ahead of you is a small shack, the only shelter to be seen for miles around. Rushing inside you find nothing but two small boxes. On the top of one is painted a giant sword; On the other, a flame of red and orange. Inside each box are 8 plain necklaces with a single hanging ornament, a small stone marked with a design to match its respective box. [/b]

You must each take a necklace out of one of the boxes. Please post in thread
(in bold)
which design you would like. Obviously this is first come first serve. Once all of one design has been taken, the remaining players will be assigned the opposite.

Event Two: The Stones of Dark and Light

The stones of Light and Dark are objects of much desire in the Tundra of Thunder. The tales stretch back many years, to the beginning of all records. The stones are fabled to protect you from all harms that you might befall on the Tundra, and be used almost any time to make yourself completely untouchable. Some say that the Great Keepers of the Stones still reside deep underground, somewhere below the Tundra. They say that were someone to learn the identity of the keeper, and successfully solve the riddles of one of the keepers, a stone would be theirs. So they say.

This is only the introduction to the Stones of Dark and Light Side Event. Further clues will be revealed throughout the course of the game. Should you believe that you know the identity of the keepers, then PM me the answer. However, should you guess wrong three times, you will no longer be eligible to complete the event.

Immunity Challenge One: Know thy friends…know thy enemies.

As your time in the Tundra begins to wear on, it seems that each day is more treacherous than the last. It is only your friendship with the fellow members of your tribe, and your knowledge of the tribe competing against you, that has kept you all around thus far. But today, no more. You will now be tested on your knowledge of both tribes in a series of five questions. Each contestant will send in a submission with their tribe name and guesses. Each correct answer is worth one point. The tribe who has the most points when all submissions have been turned in will win immunity. The other tribe will face tribal council.

Questions:

In the Magus Tribe, which was chosen more often:
Dark or Light?
Red or Blue?
Dog or Cat?
Loyalty or Betrayal?
Technology or Nature?
Strength of Body or Strength of Mind?

In the Gladius Tribe, which was chosen more often:
Dark or Light?
Red or Blue?
Dog or Cat?
Loyalty or Betrayal?
Technology or Nature?
Strength of Body or Strength of Mind?

In your submission please include your tribe as well as answers for
both
tribes. Deadline will be Friday the 15th at 5 PM EST.

If Person G does not turn in an application, they will recieve no points for their team. Turning in your answers will almost certainly give you a few points, so if you dont feel like talking to others, at least turn in something.

The individuals scores will be revealed.

Event Two: Clue Set One

Light Clue:
" - do not fear the light, fear its Master - "

Dark Clue:
“ - Every one is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody - ”

Note: These are all clues, and you should not expect to have the answer after the first clue. Each clue should take you closer to the answer.

Ok guys...that was the most pathetic Tribal Council I've ever seen. Only three votes were turned in. They were all for Chance. Everyone else's vote is counted as a self-vote. Therefore:

Chance, with 4 votes, you are the first to be eliminated. Thank you for participating.

Immunity Challenge Two: The Riddler

As you travel through the strange world that is the Tundra of Thunder, you come upon a small cave. Within stands a wrinkled hold man, leaning heavily on an old cane. He looks up at you.

"Answer me this, young 'uns:"

1) Behold; one of these words is spelled wrong. Which is it? Lightning, Fear, Power, Desire.

2) A man holds up four fingers “This is three.” He says. He holds up seven fingers and says “now this is four” he holds up three fingers. "How many is this?"

3) Four fathers and four sons must cross a piranha-infested river. Yet there are only 6 boats to carry them across, each one only capable of holding one mans weight. Yet they cross without issue in a single trip. How is this so?

4) I am a case with no hinge, lock, or lid, Yet golden treasure inside is hid. What am I?

5) Magical beasts like to shelter in caves in order to survive. Those that cannot find a cave will die. In this picture, there are three caves, six survivors, and 12 dead:

Tribal Council Two: Ouch

Everyone gets in a line and turn in their votes. The first vote is for OhGodMyLife. The next seven are for Roach. Unanimously kicked out, ouch. Nonetheless, the tribe has spoken.

Roach, with 7 votes, you are the second to be eliminated. Thank you for participating.

Immunity Challenge Three: Thunderball Madness!

Both tribes struggle on until you come to the site of a ruined building. It appears to be an ancient arena, its stonework crumbling after years of wear. A thunderbolt is painted over the entrance, and once inside you find a row of baseball sized purple spheres. It is quite clear. You have come to the Thunderball Arena!

Thunderball is an adaptation on RAF, a game of WIFOM logic. The rules are as follows:

1)
Every player has a thunderball.
2)
Each round you must PM the moderator with your choice to:
a. Throw the thunderball at another player. This will generally eliminate them, but see below.
b. Throw the ball in the air/don't throw. This choice will eliminate you if anyone targets you, but if no one does, you live.
c. Throw the ball in front of yourself. This will save you and eliminate anyone who throws their ball at you (rebound), but if no one targets you, you are eliminated (cuz you'll have lost your ball).
3)
Any player can target any player. When all of a team's players have been eliminated, the other team wins.
4)
The game will continue until all of one team are eliminated. In the event of a tie, a 1 vs. 1 sudden death round will ensue.

Deadline for submissions for Round 1 is Sunday, March 9th at 10 PM EST.

Immunity Challenge Three: Round Two Results!

Wizardcat starts things off by throwing at Farside22, who happened to be throwing his ball right back. Both parties get hit in the face. Pie_is_good throws at hasdgfas, who (failing to send in a choice) does nothing. JordanA24 and Flameaxe both throw at themselves.

Eliminated:
Wizardcat
,
Farside22
,
Hasdgfas
,
JordanA24
,
Flameaxe

Still in the game:
Pie_is_good

Pie_is_good is the last player standing, and all of Gladius has been eliminated! Therefore, Magus dominated Immunity Challenge Three! As a result, their tribe will remain intact for at least one more week. Gladius, you will be forced to go to tribal council and boot out one of your own.

Gladius tribe, please vote for the player you wish to kick out via PM. Deadline for votes will be Saturday at 5 PM. Anyone who fails to turn in their vote will be counted as voting for themselves.

Tribal Council Three: Betrayal? I think so.

The first vote is for H2DaTrizzle. The second vote is for JordanA24 (self-vote). The next five are for Skitzer. Five votes is enough, and with that, the tribe has spoken.

Skitzer, with five votes, you are the third player to be eliminated. Thank you for participating.

Immunity Challenge Four: Storytelling!

After some time, the tribes reach a small cave and decide to shelter for the night. Unbeknowst to them, they have stumbled upon the lair of a Thunder Troll! As you start to get settled in he appears in the entrance and roars "TELL ME A STORY!" It seems that doing so is the only way to appease the Troll...

The tribe that can tell the best story will be victorious in this challenge. Two threads will soon be set up in the whole sort of general mish mash forum, one for each tribe. Your goal is to tell a better story than the opposing tribe. However, there is a catch; Each member of your tribe may only post one word at a time. By working together, you can piece together the sentences that will form a riveting tale. By succeeding in certain aspects of the storytelling you will compete for points.

Stories will be scored on the following:

1) Coherency. Each coherant sentence will be worth points equal to the number of words in that sentence. A coherant sentence must be an understandable sentence written with proper grammar and spelling. Run-on sentences, as determined by Microsoft Word, will not count for any points.
2) Story continuation. Every sentence that follows a running theme will be worth and additional 10 points.
3) Part of Story. Having a beginning middle and an end is worth and additional 50 points to your total score.
4) Variety. A sentence in which all of your members post at least once will recieve a 5 point bonus.

Now, some rules:

1) Absolutely no editing of posts. If I see that any posts have been edited I will reduce your teams score to zero at that point and restart counting.
2) No deletion of posts. If you mess up, you mess up. Obviously this is on the honor rule if I'm not around, but I will be watching the post counts carefully and if I catch someone deleting a post their team will lose 50 points.
3) There must be two different tribemates in between each of your own posts.
4) Nothing particularly crude or obscene. I will neglect to count sentences that are too vulgar for my tastes.
5) No repeating a sentence or very similar sentences, i.e. "I ate cake. They ate cake. Those guys ate cake". This does NOT count for running theme, it is only annoying.

I know this is a rather vague challenge of sorts, but it can also be a fun one. Please keep your mind open and try to be creative with it. The threads will be left open from eight PM EST tonight until eight PM EST on thursday. At that point I will rally the points and declare the winners.

Immunity Challenge Four: The End.

The scores have bee tabulated. Gladius works together to tell a thrilling tale of teenagers in Canada. Magus however, told an incomplete and barely coherant story of talking breakfast meat. The Thunder Troll was not pleased with their performance.

Magus: 34

Gladius: 34+

(by their 4th sentence had surpassed Magus)

Gladius has won Immunity Challenge Four! As a result, their tribe will remain intact for another week. Magus, you will be forced to go to tribal council and boot out one of your own.

Magus, please vote for the player you wish to kick out via PM. Deadline for votes will be Monday at 5 PM. Anyone who fails to turn in their vote will be counted as voting for themselves.

But, if your opponent selects that same number during that round, then you will both get 0 points for that round. Well, when I set a deadline I expect it to be adherred to. I really feel pretty discouraged that only two people cared enough to submit on time when I tried to get the game restarted, especially given how easy this challenge was to complete. Google, send.
