Murders/Moles in Small Town dy/dx - "Episode Four"

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Thu Oct 14, 2010 6:00 pm

Post by Flameaxe »

This game is very loosely based off of the show Murder in Small Town X and the show The Murder Game. If you haven't watched these shows before, you should! They were both very good shows.

This game also has elements of the TV series The Mole, mainly that of the fact that there is a mole...and that everyone else is trying to discover the identity of the mole.

If you like The Mole, like MiSTX, or just want to know more about the game, keep reading!

Image(Blatantly reuse of pictures to make post less wall of texty)

Here is how it works:

Thirteen players will be invited to a hypothetical small town with a derivative title. Secretly one of these players will be a hypothetical killer terrorizing said town. Much like the Mole, the goal of the other players will be to discover the identity of the mole, but in a different way.

At the end of each episode, each player submits a numbered list of each player, and lists how suspicious of the players they are, going from least suspicious (1) to most (number of players in game). The position on the list will be assigned a number value, and once all lists are in, the numbers are tallied. The three players with the highest "scores" will be put up for elimination. The player that determines the elimination is none other than the killer himself.

In addition, most episodes will have an immunity challenge that will make the winning player immune to being nominated that episode. The other players will still place the immune player within their lists, but the tally of points for that player will be defaulted to zero, and ignored.

This continues for each episode, until three players remain. At that point an essential jury vote of the eliminated players takes place as to who they think the killer is. If the majority of the jury votes correctly, the two remaining "town" players win the game. However, if the majority of jury votes are incorrect, the killer leaves the game as the sole killer.

Simply put, each episode will follow this format:
-Immunity Challenge
-Nominations
-Reveal of two players on the chopping block
-Reveal of the player who was killed

Like I said, thirteen players. Feel free to signup, or ask any questions, as I know the fact that I'm having a drink tonight may effect how well this game gets explained. :D

Your wit has no bounds... unlike a definite integral.

Anyhoo, did you check with mith already since it sounds like it could be a mafia variant? If so, /in.

It's not a mafia variant. The game's been ran and abandoned before.

I figured someone would get the joke. But yeah, its not at all like mafia, in my head at least. It's closer to a mole variant, where the mole has an active role in deciding who gets eliminated. The idea behind the two possible eliminations comes from the game that this is named after (Murder in Small Town X, or the Murder Game if you're from those parts).

So when you're nominating players, if you put the killer as a 1 that's a good thing?

That's a good thing for the killer. 1 is the least suspicious. 13 would be your most suspicious. Anyway, getting the killer in that is only a good thing if we can recognize him before the final 3.

If I'm reading this correctly, you're trying to put the person you think is the killer as high up on the list as you can. Because that player is the one who chooses who is eliminated, they can be put on the "chopping block" and just pick the other player to be eliminated.

Just know, this game isn't all that close to MiSTX. I am working on another full flavor edition of an actual MiSTX game, so keep your eyes peeled for that one. :D

Because the plot twist is going to be that we're all the same. Integration hasn't happened in the town yet.

Right, so Flameaxe's maths pun means that he is secretly Sho Minanimoto off The World Ends With You, and so we're all REALLY playing the Reaper's Game. FUN. /in
