This might be the case, but when other people are voting on your stuff, it can be either biased based (if they can grasp the differences between the other people) or just random in general.
Which is why submissions are usually anon for judging, there are usually at least 3 judges, and the judges are almost never the mods themselves.

And if the voting was "random in general" then why on earth would the judges volunteer to do it? That one sentence cameo of everlasting fame, or just for the pure, ecstatic rush of loading up random.org?

I like the creative challenges, but those should have longer deadlines in general to really flesh it out.

The best challenges are flash game challenges, as long as the game isn't broken. They don't involve any luck, and there's no way to have bias come into play.

Also I'm actually good at them.

...Yes, that's who I was in the game. You just now noticed that?

Even if the games suck, then they're still fine as long as it's not completely broken and unplayable.

Also, speaking of Solipskier, you might notice that the time I brought it up in the mess hall was actually before it was a challenge in Gypsy, and I was getting pretty good at it even though I didn't think it would end up being a challenge that I would participate in. That's one of the reasons that my score ended up being through the roof.

I didn't do very good on that matching game from Sky Pillar. Seriously, I got third. That's terrible.

You have to admit the game wasn't exactly riveting entertainment.

Speaking of which, how'd you get such a high score on that thing, Xalxe?

The matching game had a broken scoring system, IIRC.

Other than the avoidable game crashing glitches, the only thing I remember being broken about that was the fact that if you failed and retried you would be on the level you failed on with the score you had gotten before that, so it was just trying to optimise each level as best as possible.

I don't know how Xalxe got that score either, but he hasn't answered me about that even though I've been asking semi-frequently since the challenge occurred.

I'll send his brother - that should do the trick.
