I think the whole point is he won't be voted out (i.e., a mish mash JOE SCHMOE).

16 player game, 8v8 initially. Very vanilla, besides the fact that there's no private communication :D

Alternatively, to simulate the show: You have a limited amount of PMs (whispering) every round, while all other talking plays out in a 24/7 group 'campfire' voicechat. Whisper too much, and you risk having your conversation 'noticed' (Mod announcement: "Player X and Y snuck off behind a bush") or even 'overheard'. (Contents leaked to anyone at camp at the time)

Man, I'm itching to mod now.

Survivor: Hurt and Heal (Better name please?)

Every tribal, there is a Heal vote as well as a traditional vote. In tribes, both tribes do a heal vote, even if they win. Instead of a FTC, the player with the most Heal votes wins the game.

Does this work or is it stupid?

Even though that would save a lot of trouble and arguing for pretty much everyone involved, firstly as worded and assuming you can't vote for yourself, it encourages people to vote for whoever they think won't get to FTC, because their vote can only hurt them in the long run. Even if all votes made by the people involved in the FTC are nullified, then the main problem is that it encourages OTT play, because under the radar players can't explain their calculated actions resulting in them being where they are, so even if they were actually the ones controlling the whole game while their F2 partner was just a figurehead who was meant to draw blindsides who never actually did anything, they would still win due to the fact that no one would want to vote for the person who was seemingly less powerful during the game. That means that everyone would be playing OTT, and I really don't think that would end well.
Never be sorry for your little time.

It's not when you get there, it's always the climb.

Digging up this thread to see what was thought of a couple related ideas I had. Not saying I would want to try these, or that I think they're good or bad, but I was at least interested in 'em.

1) smallish size survivor, say the standard 16 or even as small as 14 (mostly to counter the increased game length this idea would cause). After each Immunity challenge pre-merge, the losing tribe randomly draws from a bag one of two colours of marble:
RED - They must vote someone to send to the other tribe
BLACK - Standard Tribal Council vote-off.
There are a known quantity of both red and black marbles in the bag, and each drawing reduces the bag accordingly. Ie, if it starts with 3 of each, and a red is drawn, at the end of the next challenge there will be 2 red and 3 black in the bag. Gives a bit of certainty back to the game so players can expect one or the other if mostly swaps or eliminations have happened so far.
2) Every pre-merge TC, the losing tribe goes to their standard TC, while the winning tribe votes a player to send to the losing tribe.
3) Similar to above, but the vote to send a player away only happens if the winning tribe is currently larger than the losing tribe.

I was basically toying with ways to have constant (forecasted) tribal swaps happen in a game, and wondering what that'd do to the social game. I think the main problem with the 'one at a time' swapping is that it just leaves the new tribesmate on the block until they can prove themselves or make quick allies. Iunno. I want a way to make something like this work and not suck, but I don't think I'm seeing it yet.

I like 1, it's pretty interesting...maybe give the person voted out a clue to the hidden immunity idol so they have some kind of fighting chance?

For 2 and 3, you could just throw the challenges and vote off whoever the winning tribe sends over which isn't that fair.

How about this - You offer the chance for people to mutiny from their tribe after each tribal. There has to be at least 1 person from each tribe to mutiny. If no one volunteers, then it's determined by a random draw.

Hmmm, I think to make a game with constant tribal swaps, the best way would be to have a One World-like setup with everyone in one camp, but after each TC, new tribes are randomly decided. It'd be the hardest to make plans and prepare for, but that's definitely the most effective way to reward a strong social game.

Rock, Paper, Scissors Survivor - everyone is either a Rock or a Paper or a Scissors. This determines who beats whom in the finals. If two of the same make it to the F2, then there is a jury vote. If they are different, then it depends entirely on what their role was.

Also, if it is completely impossible for someone to win due to this (e.g. 3 Rocks and 1 Scissors in the F4), then they are just eliminated automatically.

I have a few more terrible ideas, but I am debating making a terrible Survivor game in the distant future.

BB has already usurped me with his comment about the 100-player survivor, but I played in a Kid Nation one which was 40 players. I did get only 35th, but still it was very hectic. The merge also featured a mechanic for getting money to buy benefits by posting "[PLAYER] sweeps the floor of the store" over and over again.

Simple Idea: 12 or 14 players, the game proceeds as usual until half have been voted out, then the voted-out half all return and make up a new tribe, while the remaining players make another tribe, and the game proceeds as normal.

Mafia Survivor: There are two types of rounds, day and night. During the Day Rounds, everyone votes in public and can change their vote at any time until someone reaches a majority of votes. During Night Rounds everyone votes in private like a normal TC :D.

Arkham Asylum did have a couple Mafia Tribal Councils where private communication was cut off and all votes were public and could change anytime, but it'd be cool to see a game alternate each round. :)

Survivor: 1 vs. 100! Two tribes, one of 1 player and one of 100 players. If the tribe of 1 player loses a challenge, he is eliminated and the other tribe votes for a player to take his spot in the 1-player tribe. If the 100-player tribe loses a challenge, they vote a player from their tribe out of the game. Merge at 12.

Okay this is a serious idea I'm considering.

Letter Survivor: 26-player anon game where every player is playing as a randomly assigned letter of the alphabet. A player cannot use whatever letter he is in any posts or PMs, and doing so 5 times results in immediate elimination. For example, Q cannot use any words containing the letter Q. In addition, at any point in the game, no players may use any of the 5 most previously voted out letters in any posts or PMs, and doing so goes towards a separate 5-strike count.

[8:11:28 PM] Will Seamon: I'm gonna run an anon game where each player is secretly controlling two players, but they're only aware of the one player they're logged in as
[8:11:35 PM] Will Seamon: So there are 10 players on each tribe
[8:11:43 PM] Will Seamon: But only 5 real people on each tribe
[8:11:59 PM] xof: xD
[8:12:15 PM] Will Seamon: But if real xof sends a PM to fake JDGA on her tribe, then fake xof sends that exact same PM to real JDGA on the other tribe
[8:13:53 PM] xof: oooo
[8:13:56 PM] xof: that's really neat
[8:14:15 PM] Will Seamon: i feel like it'd actually be really cool omg
[8:14:25 PM] xof: it really would be
[8:14:32 PM] xof: make it a smaller game though
[8:14:40 PM] xof: er you already said that
[8:14:41 PM] xof: nevermind >.>
[8:14:44 PM] xof: <.<
[8:15:01 PM] Will Seamon: well everyone THINKS it's 20 players!
[8:15:04 PM] xof: true
[8:15:20 PM] Will Seamon: ;)
[8:15:28 PM] Will Seamon: I'm too lazy for all that work though
[8:15:35 PM] xof: do both real and fake die at the same time?
[8:15:46 PM] Will Seamon: nope!
[8:15:49 PM] xof: ooo
[8:16:15 PM] Will Seamon: I haven't thought this through very well, but at merge at 10 something happens??? idek
[8:16:17 PM] xof: you should put this in the worst survivor ideas thread :P
