Skype Survivor: Tribes [WE WANT YOU]

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Thu May 29, 2014 4:33 am

Post by PrivateI »

It's time for a new Survivor game! This venture represents one of the first times, to my knowledge, that a Marathon Survivor has been attempted via Skype, with contestants split into tribes. Here are a few aspects of this game.

1. Skype Survivor: Tribes will take place entirely on Skype. However, there are some challenges that MAY have an additional online component. Regardless, Skype is the only application/form of communication which you are required to use in order to play this game.

2. This Survivor game has been reviewed with Crazy, however, I take all liability for any twists/challenges which are considered "unfair", or are not implemented correctly.

3. As demonstrated by previous games, I am not infallible whatsoever. If/when I do make an error in the game, I will do everything in my power to correct it.

4. This game will take place the evenings of July 18 and 19, according to the Central Standard Time zone.

5. All twists have been predetermined to occur at a specific point in the game.

6. This game is open to everyone. If you've never played in a larger MM game before, we would love to have you sign up and play! Who knows, maybe you could walk away with the title of Sole Survivor!

As always, please post any questions below!

Here is where you can apply! I hope to see you there!

If you're reading this, and you're not reading an incredibly awesome chat over Skype, that means that you forgot to sign up for the Marathon Survivor that's going on tonight! It's not too late to be a part of the coolest game of the summer. (Besides 14 others)

Just add me, montywhittakeriii. I'll get you hooked up.

The game opened on Friday evening with just fourteen competitors, with four leaving before the competition even began. We began by evenly splitting the two tribes.

The
Red Tribe
consisted of Axxle, Cephrir, Piggygal15, Klick, Nicholas1024, tn5421, and Xofelf. They would be competing against the
Green Tribe
, which was made up of DeasVail, BiPolarChemist, Titus, Mist7676, ForWhomTheJellyRolls, Pieguy, and Cybele. Amongst the tribes, much discussion was made of the fact that it appeared the relative newer players seemed to be on the Green Tribe, while the Red Tribe had many of the more experienced players in the game.

The first challenge was a simple one. Players had half an hour to get a bird-shaped ball through as many narrow openings as possible, with the winner taking home tribal immunity. (If you want to try your hand at the challenge, click here. However, the tribes were not just competing for immunity. They also were fighting for individual reward. The top three scorers would get to choose from three boxes, starting with the lowest scorer.
Tn5421
was the third place scorer, and opened a reward which held
one additional vote at the first Tribal Council following the merge.
However, when given an opportunity,
Cybele
, the second place scorer, stole the additional vote. Tn5421 then got to open another box. This box contained a
Hidden Immunity Idol, good through the Final Five.
But he would not get to keep it for long.
Klick
, the highest scorer in the challenge, chose to take the Hidden Immunity Idol away, meaning that Tn5421 was left with the final box, which held
an advantage at the Immunity Challenge when there were eight players left.
All of these rewards were not transferable, though the Hidden Immunity Idol could be played on another person.

Because Klick won the challenge, with an incredible score of 86, he won immunity for the
Red Tribe
, meaning that the
Green Tribe
was going to Tribal Council. I gave the tribe ten minutes to discuss the vote before we sat down for the first Tribal Council of the game. It seemed that Pieguy had not connected with the rest of the tribe, and this was reflected in the vote. With 6 votes for
Pieguy
, and Pieguy's vote going to
ForWhomTheJellyRolls
, Pieguy was the first to leave the game. However, as he left, I informed the players that Pieguy would become the first member of the first jury. What changes would this bring to the game? And how would our players react to learning that BOTH tribes would be going to Tribal Council in the next round? Find out next time.

Last time on...Survivor!

14 players embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. Personalities as diverse as a beautician, a computer engineer, and a mobile spray tanner agreed to live for two days on an island, knowing that one would emerge with the title of Sole Survivor. They were immediately divided into two tribes. In the first immunity challenge, the
Red Tribe
won immunity, sending the
Green Tribe
to vote off one of their own. After relatively little dissent,
Pieguy
's life in the game was snuffed out. But for how long? We'll find out...tonight.

Back at camp, things were...relatively peaceful, actually. No drama to show here. Let's cut to the Immunity Challenge! That'll shake things up...

Ah, here we are. For this Immunity Challenge, tribal lines were blurred. I announced that BOTH tribes would be going to Tribal Council, but to make up for this, two Immunity necklaces would be given. For the challenge, the players, without communicating, had to choose whether to turn pull their own light switch, or someone else's. If, at the end of a round, your light was turned off, you would be eliminated. After several rounds,
Xofelf
and
Klick
emerged as the victors. This meant that for the
Green Tribe
, no one would be safe, but on the
Red Tribe
, the pool of people to eliminate was reduced to five.

Because the
Green Tribe
had not won immunity at all, they went to Tribal Council first, giving the opposing tribe more time to discuss the elimination. The Green Tribe's lack of unity was shown in the vote.
Mist7676
voted for
ForWhomTheJellyRolls
, the sole vote for that user at this Tribal Council. The vote, then, was between
Titus
and
BipolarChemist
. Receiving three of the six votes in the urn,
Titus
was sent packing, leaving BPC to fight one more day. Titus became the second member of the first jury.

Then, the
Red Tribe
was brought in. Their decision was no less difficult. You see, in order to insure balance, NEITHER tribe was allowed to communicate privately until both Tribal Councils were over. So, a great deal of public discussion occurred in an attempt to reach a consensus concerning the vote. Eventually, a decision was established. Receiving five of the seven votes,
Axxle
became the third and final member of the first jury.

Next time on...Survivor:

How will the players react when the first jury twist is revealed? And will an unexpected merge shake up some Survivors' gameplay? We'll find out, next week.

Previously on...Survivor!

An unexpected double Tribal Council sent both tribes scrambling. When Xofelf and Klick won immunity for the
Red Tribe
, it ensured their safety through the merge, however, every member of the
Green Tribe
was defenseless. At a stunning Tribal, the
Green Tribe
, with a plurality of votes, sent
Titus
out of the game, while the
Red Tribe
's consensus was that
Axxle
would leave the game. Both of these players became the final members of the first jury. What does this mean? We'll find out...tonight.

When the players arrived on Immunity Beach, an unfamilar sight was before them. Instead of an elaborate challenge setup, there was...a table? The Survivors, starved after their three hours of being on the island, immediately ran to the table and began chatting about the events of the last day. I encouraged them to drop their buffs, as we were merging with eleven people! I also informed them of the first jury's role in the game's proceedings. The sole purpose of the players who were eliminated prior to the merge was to help to decide who the first member of the actual jury would be. They would do this by each casting a vote at this first merge Tribal Council.

Upon hearing this, the Survivors realized that immunity was more important than ever. And they didn't realize that there would be yet another additional vote in the urn, held by
Cybele
. So, with eleven players in the game, and fifteen votes in play, anything could happen. For the immunity challenge, I sent the Survivors scavenging throughout the island to find various objects. The last to find an object in a given round would be eliminated. After a grueling nine rounds,
DeasVail
took home the prize, and would be the only player safe.

At Tribal Council, the first jury didn't have a great impact on the game. All three jurors voted for
BipolarChemist
, while it was otherwise a unanimous vote to eliminate
Tn5421
. Tn5421 became the first actual jury member, but fell as he was leaving the Tribal Council area. Tripping in this manner cost him his life in the game, and almost cost his actual life. He was immediately medically evacuated, and
Pieguy
took his place as the first member of the second jury.

Next time on...Survivor:

What will happen when Cybele's ploy costs someone immunity? And how will our Survivors deal with having to actually drink the wine in front of them? Also, we'll chat with Pieguy about his time in the game.

Ohhh I was under the impression that the members of the first jury were casting the ONLY votes at the first merge TC. That's not as fun!
