{CARNAGE}
Greetings, victims — competitors. I bring some scandalous news: You may now apply to enter a contest of honor and pride. The name of the game is Survivor, and it is one infected with pomp, circumstance, egomania, paranoia, deceit, betrayal, pain, murder, incarceration, obliteration — Sorry. I seem to have gotten a little carried away. For whatever reason, the moderating team would prefer that you enter
Survivor: Conclave
willingly, so if you wish to participate, then you must apply as soon as possible. For every hour you wait, I might just kill an innocent passerby. Look alive, players, because you might not be for much longer! I wasn’t supposed to say that, but it can be our little secret.

Application / System Configuration
While the moderators continue to prepare for your arrival, I will extract some personal details from you to expedite the process. Kidding, but I
will
need to collect background information to ensure uneventful travels to Conclave. Wouldn’t want you to get lost en route, would we?

If you would like to browse
Survivor: Conclave’s
character options, then go here.

{GENERAL RULES}

{01}
This is a game. The main objective is to have fun; so no excessive flaming, spamming, or submission of anything else prohibited within the MS forums.
{02}
This is a game. The secondary objective is to dominate.
{03}
We are not infallible, so if any the moderating team makes a mistake, please point it out {preferably via PM} and we will correct it if needed.
{04}
We have worked extensively to produce a game that is enjoyed by all involved. As such, we promise to offer each player respect but expect to be shown the same in return.
{05}
Do not modify avatars. The moderating team has spent a great deal of time creating these images and would much rather concentrate on maintaining a smooth game as opposed to making unnecessary revisions.
{06}
Exercise common sense. If you are unsure as to whether an action conflicts with the rules, ask. Yes, this is a competition, but do not attempt to undermine challenges or game mechanics for your own gain. This violates both the spirit of the game and common respect mentioned above.
{07}
Private communication with players outside of your tribe is strictly prohibited. Any player found in violation of this rule will be penalized.
{08}
The moderating team asks that players refrain from logging in anonymously. This is to help emulate the Survivor experience.
{09}
Any and all posting about this game outside the provided forums is illegal unless SPECIFICALLY STATED. Violators will be penalized, as it is threatens the integrity of an anonymous game.
{10}
We reserve all rights to implement new rules if needed.

{GAME MECHANICS}

{01}
Survivor: Conclave
is
ANONYMOUS
. All participants are strictly prohibited from so much as hinting to their own identities or implying another player's mafiascum identity. Communication outside the private message system is also forbidden until otherwise stated. Failure to follow this rule can result in a variety of consequences ranging from a terse warning to one's elimination from the game. The moderating team reserves the right to determine the severity of possible infractions.

Reward Challenges:

{02}
Conclave is home to a myriad of hidden treasures and rewards, all of which the mods have graciously collected. Throughout the game, Reward components have been designed so that players can reap the benefits of victory, gaining powers and items to prolong their stay in the game.
{03}
Each reward challenge will have an established time frame that ranges between twenty-four and forty-eight hours. Failure to submit in the specified time will result in a player's or tribe's elimination from the challenge.
{04}
The outcomes of all Reward Challenges are final. That said, be sure to keep Rule 03 of General Rules in mind.

Immunity Challenges:

{05}
A Survivor game is nothing without its standard immunity challenges. While there are a limited number of Reward Challenges throughout the game, each round will possess an Immunity Challenge.
{06}
Winners of Immunity Challenges will be safe from elimination that round and cannot be voted out in Tribal Councils.
{07}
We appreciate the fact that prospective contestants will enter this game with a range of skills. With this in mind, understand that we as mods cannot cater to all players' needs and time constraints in challenges.
{08}
The outcomes of all Immunity Challenges are final. That said, be sure to keep Rule 03 of General Rules in mind.

Tribal Council:

{09}
Tribal Councils will last twenty-four hours from the moment we notify relevant parties. If a player fails to submit a vote within the given time frame, he or she will incur a self-vote penalty. In the event that a player knows he or she will be unable to vote by deadline, that player may notify the moderators and cast a conditional vote to avoid penalization.
{10}
The results of Tribal Councils may be posted before deadline if and only if all persons involved have submitted a non-conditional vote. As such, if you wish to leave a vote without risking Tribal Council ending early, a conditional vote may be appropriate.
{11}
The modification of vote posts after they have been posted is prohibited. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in a self-vote or nullification of one's vote. Repeated offenses will be dealt with as deemed appropriate. If you need to alter your vote, instead make another post.
{12}
The outcomes of Tribal Councils are final.
{13}
Questions concerning ties in Tribal Council may be found below:

Spoiler: Breaking Ties
{I}
In the event of an initial tie, a revote shall take place. Contestants may only vote for one of the tied players, and all tied individuals may not vote.
{II}
If a majority is not met in the revote, the following methods (in the given order) will be implemented to determine which player is eliminated:
01. Any tied player who failed to submit a vote during the Tribal Council in question will be eliminated.
02. If the above does not apply, or if more than one tied player failed to vote, the tied player with the highest number of past self votes will be eliminated.
03a. If the above does not apply and if the game has not yet reached the Final 6, all players not locked in the tie or immune will draw rocks. The player who receives a black rock will be eliminated.
03b. If the above does not apply and if the game has reached the Final 6, a tie-breaker challenge will take place between tied parties. This will be explained in greater detail should a tie occur at this stage in the game.

Twists:

{14}
Twists will be implemented without warning or provocation throughout the game. The time and setting of each twist has already been determined, so as to neither give an unfair advantage or disadvantage to a player or group of players.

{CONFLUX}

24 superhumans find themselves in two different unfamiliar dimensions, set up in very clear opposed groups as they travel slowly through this strange world on their way to another. But the game waits for no one, and mysterious transmissions came through the void to inform them that the game would begin before they even truly arrived.

This is their story.

The competitors were surprised to learn that in this round, they would be competing not against their obvious rivals, but against their other-universe counterparts. This meant that one Heroes tribe and one Villains tribe would go to Tribal Council. In the Symbiote simulation, each tribe had to help recompose some materials that were thrown off-balance by the twisting dimensions around them. Each tribe broke itself up into two teams of three to compete in the two parts of the challenge. Field Agents would be presented with a series of thematically appropriate word puzzles, and their results both scored points for their tribe and impacted the difficulty of the second task for their tribe. The Scene Analysts then took up where the Field Agents left off and had to identify a series of blurred and otherwise mangled images thrown awry by the dimensional shift.

The DC Heroes got off to a very rocky start, failing to submit final responses for their Field Agents and thereby all but assuring their defeat in the challenge at large. Meanwhile, the Marvel Heroes cruised ahead with a nearly perfect score, and the two Villains tribes fell in the middle, both scoring well but leaving the Marvel Villains a point ahead of their counterparts. With the Marvel Heroes' Scene Analysts scoring any points at all in the second phase, the DC Heroes were headed to Tribal Council, but who would join them? Ultimately, the Villain tribes managed to post equal scores in this part, so the DC Villains' 1-point deficit meant both DC teams were headed to a date with the moderating team. They cast their ballots, and the game's first two casualties were gone before it truly began.

*I apologize for the poor moderating decision I made in choosing to replace this slot and then not unreplace it. I hope you’ll both consider trying this again sometime, and I would support excluding both Canaries from the ELO calculation, but then again, it’s not like those matter.

Following this brief distraction, the teams came together as they were always meant to. Two universes collided, and the Conclave was truly born. Along with it came two teams.

{Corona}

Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

{Penumbra}

Image Image Image Image Image Image Image ImageImage Image Image

The first head-to-head battle between these teams featured a test of speed and accuracy. In theory, it should have been a team effort, but
{Zatanna}
managed to win the entire challenge by herself, sending
{Penumbra}
to the first post-Conflux Tribal Council.

At Tribal Council, it looked as though
{Penumbra}
was divided by universe: Marvel versus DC. A few players, however, had other ideas.
{Enchantress}
, feeling as though she was on the bottom with the Marvel Villains, decided to try her hand at turning things against her former team. However, as voting time approached,
{Red Hood}
began to panic and made some… undiplomatic decisions.

In the end, the team decided to eliminate
{Red Hood}
.

Next, the heroes and villains played in a challenge that required them to dig up graves and carefully select some prizes. There was some luck to this challenge…. But also some greed. Some of the rewards featured low numbers of points along with fabulous prizes! Others featured extra-large sums that came with penalties. Although
{Corona}
struggled with a missing team member, luck and sacrifice were on their side.
{Gambit}
and
{Moon Knight}
accepted big penalties to get their team ahead. Meanwhile, on the villains’ side,
{Enchantress}
valued a small prize over her team’s safety. When a slight difference between Penumbra’s expected and actual point totals caused them to lose, it was a witch hunt to determine who had lied. Circumstance and a bit of trickiness pushed the blame towards
{Loki}
, but no one was quite sure what had really happened—except, of course,
{Enchantress}
and her partner in crime,
{Mystique}
. However, ultimately, the villains decided to put aside the issue. There was much twisting, much scheming, but in the end, the rest of the team couldn’t trust these two.
{Enchantress}
was eliminated. In addition,
{Robin}
had to quit the game for personal reasons.

Doom. It approached slowly, but surely, and finally arrived. The next challenge was a bit different. It was individual, and fabulous prizes were promised to the top competitors, but the last-placing player… would be EXECUTED. In a game of perseverance and, well, outboggling, new teams would ultimately be determined.

{Queen Bee}
placed first and became the leader of the power-worshipping
{Cyttorak}
team.
{Deadpool}
was the highest-placing Corona member outside the top three, and gained a temporary private chatroom with her to help with the selection process.

{Starfire}
placed second and became the leader of the vigilant
{Ekron}
team.
{Mysterio}
was the highest-placing Penumbra member outside the top three, and gained a temporary private chatroom with her.

{Rorschach}
placed first and became the leader of the hopeful
{Adara}
team.
{Ultron}
was the highest-placing Penumbra member without a prize already in hand, and gained a temporary private chatroom with him.

{Rocket Raccoon}
and
{Two-Face}
were the lowest scorers, the former finding himself with little time to complete the challenge, and the latter deliberately not trying for some reason.

However, it was
{Rocket Raccoon}
who blasted off here, leaving a number of devastated friends and mods in his all-too-innocent wake.

The team captains submitted lists, following their discussions with one opposing tribe member to get information on the other side, and a snake draft was secretly conducted for them without the lists being revealed.

The first challenge facing these new tribes looked to be interesting and complex. The Ventriloquist stopped by to take over the simulation, and forced the competitors to play an explosive grid-based game. However, all the teams adopted very similar strategies that could not coexist easily, leading to
{Adara}
being defeated in only the first round.

The first vote for
{Adara}
was a tumultuous one. With the former Penumbra members outnumbered four to two, it looked at first as though they were in trouble. Some considered
{Ultron}
a target because he was struggling to make himself liked, while others considered targeting
{Riddler}
for being a strong player. However, a long-brewing rivalry between
{Rorschach}
and
{Wonder Woman}
started to come to a head, with the former targeting the latter, playing both sides to preserve his friendships, and the latter waiting eagerly for a reason to go after
{Rorschach}
before being given one. Ultimately,
{Rorschach}
’s attempt to play everyone fell through, and he was eliminated.

For a game we hoped would strain the competitors’ ability to read one another, we made them play Conspiracy in groups of three, and introduced a point system that would determine the losing tribe from the results of the five games.
{Ekron}
was swindled, and found themselves sitting at Tribal Council. With another 4-2 split on this team and
{Mysterio}
allied with some of the heroes,
{Doctor Doom}
’s brief absence made it easy to send him packing.

Completing the trifecta,
{Cyttorak}
just couldn’t seem to work out an anagram at the end of a long challenge. At their Tribal Council, lone hero
{Gambit}
seemed the obvious target, but some players had other ideas. The villains were more interested in getting rid of
{Loki}
, but his overtures ultimately convinced
{Queen Bee}
to keep him, and
{Gambit}
was eliminated.

The final simulation of this part of the game was a bit poorly conceived. It featured players having to guess how the majority responded on the application questionnaire, but… ultimately, the game was too WIFOMy, and
{Ekron}
went to Tribal Council despite answering the most questions correctly.
{Mysterio}
utilized his connections to stay safe, while outsider
{Storm}
was evicted with little fuss.

At this point, the game took another turn. Throughout the game, players had been able to sacrifice their votes in order to “Artifact Vote” for a player, which would hurt them in the future. At this point, it was revealed that the purpose of this twist was elimination. The players were all brought together, firstly, into the
{Quorum}
.

Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

Once there, they had a round in which they could only artifact vote, followed by a decision regarding which of several artifacts to “open” and thus determine who would be eliminated. The artifact scoring was quirky, however, and heavily penalized players who had not been to Tribal Council often. Two sides piled votes onto the
{Orb of Ra}
: one voting against
{Mystique}
, and one against
{Deadpool}
. Very few artifact votes had been cast before this phase, so it would largely be determined here. Seven players voted against Mystique, while three voted for Deadpool—but votes against Deadpool, an Adara and Corona member, counted almost double what votes against regular Tribal Council attendee Mystique did. Meanwhile,
{Mystique}
and
{Deadpool}
had coincidentally quickly become close, and
{Mystique}
ultimately decided to join
{Starfire}
and
{Wolverine}
in taking neither side by voting for
{Ultron}
on the
{Tesseract}
, rather than fighting over the Orb and voting against her new friend. This mistake ultimately cost her the game, as the opening of the Orb just barely caused the end of the game for her.

A pseudo-random procedure was used next to separate into two new, rival agencies—
{S.H.I.E.L.D.}
and
{S.W.O.R.D.}
. As a smaller side punishment,
{Deadpool}
was briefly sent to solitary confinement.

{S.H.I.E.L.D.}

Image Image Image Image Image Image

These teams faced only two inter-tribal competitions.
{S.W.O.R.D.}
couldn’t solve cryptograms quickly enough, and gained an immune and voteless
{Deadpool}
before their vote.
{S.H.I.E.L.D.}
stumbled with a trivia-and-grid game. Honestly, neither of these votes was shocking or interesting, so I’ll get to the point.

And so with that, we come to the merge. All players joined up as one… Conclave.

{Conclave}

Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

The first Tribal Council following a merge is often uninteresting as players seek a compromise vote while they get comfortable. This one was no exception, with one player disappearing for several days and having their throat slit on the spot after
{Starfire}
walked away with immunity for being the best identifier of warped common sayings.

At this point, it began to look as though the former members of Corona, who had the majority, were content to be *incredibly fucking boring* and systematically eliminate the villains. And this would prove an overarching theme… but not without a few stops along the way, of which this would be one. Competitors had to remember a series of news briefs to compete for immunity here. {Zatanna} came close, but ultimately, {Deadpool} took home the title. The heroes pivoted and {Deadpool} failed to act to defend his ally, and so a big player barely missed out on a jury berth.

The Final 9 round, however, was not to be outdone in providing drama.
{Moon Knight}
made quick work of the immunity challenge, proving his chops as a logician.
{Starfire}
, widely considered the strongest social player in the game, was away briefly, and the villains, led by
{Riddler}
, saw this as the time to strike. Down 5-4, they needed to flip only one hero vote to their side to take out arguably the game’s most powerful player in a vulnerable moment. However,
{Riddler}
was unable to secure even the villain vote. Even
{Mysterio}
succumbed to Starfire’s charms (as she continued to pile artifact votes on him in secret). Concerned about a possible hero flip, a few heroes persuaded
{Mysterio}
and
{Zod}
to vote for
{Two-Face}
, falsely agreeing to join in such a vote, just to split some villains in a definite direction away from
{Starfire}
. The heroes stood together, and Riddler was eliminated, 5-2-2.

Blackout! The players had to remember the timing of game events for their next challenge, while access to the forum was all but entirely shut off. Nearly perfectly recalling all the dates,
{Starfire}
was safe once again. The players opted not to make any big moves this round, and voted out relatively inactive
{Two-Face}
unanimously.

In the next challenge, the players had to match up statements made by eliminated players to the players who had made them, and do so as quickly as possible. All the players proved less than stellar at this, but
{Mysterio}
took the challenge by consistently getting about a third of the answers relatively quickly. And it was a good thing he did, because this round was the final return of the artifacts! The Infinity Gem was built up and poised to eliminate Mysterio, with only a couple stray votes from
{Zod}
going anywhere else. However, knowing Mysterio’s immunity ruined her plans,
{Starfire}
and company changed the vote to open the
{Tesseract}
, which she and
{Wolverine}
had stuffed a couple votes into. Most of the players had ignored the twist, had essentially no idea what the Tesseract would do, and went along with it, leading to the tragic elimination of a rather enjoyable
boggler
player.

The following round had the players building robots to play a repeated-iteration prisoners’ dilemma game. A few players opted for the predictable strategy of always betraying, but
{Wonder Woman}
and
{Mysterio}
found some solace in cooperation. Ultimately,
{Wonder Woman}
destroyed the competition. In a move an impartial observer would likely refer to as “lame” and “boring”, the players voted on tribal lines.

It had always seemed as though this round might be the one for something interesting to happen,
{Zod}
was able to ensure the heroes could not gang up on him by winning immunity when he counted duplicated images the most effectively. Before long, it was war.
{Deadpool}
, realizing the other heroes seemed to be lining up against him, joined Zod in targeting power player
{Starfire}
, who for her part, hoped to turn the tables on Deadpool using her Final 3 alliance with
{Wonder Woman}
and
{Wolverine}

.
