By "we" are you speaking as a member of the Scummies Judging Committee? because that's not how I understood it...In post 173, Kublai Khan wrote:We judged "Funniest Poster" based on in-game posts, not out of game.
1) ITT Feysal, Haylen, etc. don't exist? And "Name Should be in Orange" has generally gone to list mods, admins, etc.. Vi & Tierce are the exception, but even they won the award for maintain the mafia wiki and saving mafia games (respectively).
2) What's the point of giving "Name Should Be InOrange" to actual admins?Red Text
3) Why isn't "Name Should Be In Orange" an award given to the most obvioussympathizer?TIGER
4) Etc.Everything you say and do matters. People will respond in ways you may never see. May those responses be what you intend.-

Nope. That's the other thing I was getting at; there probably won't be badges because there were so many people and the group is difficult to cleanly and fairly define.*In post 262, izakthegoomba wrote:So did everyone have the badge for a year?

Yeah, Team Mafia might have had a chance in other years but zorotter was competing against the HIGH PRIEST OF MR. FLAY.~In post 284, Faraday wrote:Mafia MetaMafia was his point.Everything you say and do matters. People will respond in ways you may never see. May those responses be what you intend.-

"I still think he's perfectly deserving of an award" very obviously in practice meansIn post 307, xRECKONERx wrote:In fact, Magua's Marketplace mechanic was more "stale" than Team Mafia, as buy-your-powers have been done time and time again... I still think he's perfectly deserving of an award, but I know for our group, if Team Mafia had been up there in the finals, it would've been a slam dunk victory.
Here's to hoping Team Mafia 2012 actually wins it.He should not have gotten an award. Scummies are zero-sum.
Here's to me challenging Team Mafia 2012.Everything you say and do matters. People will respond in ways you may never see. May those responses be what you intend.-

I don't disagree. But there's only one award. The problem is more systemic than a matter of a preferred candidate not winning. In post 310, xRECKONERx wrote:Not really. The best people for the award don't always win. It's not a perfect science. People who don't win can be deserving, as can those that do.Everything you say and do matters. What you've been doing kind of looks precisely like begrudging Magua winning an award though. In post 312, zoraster wrote:I certainly don't begrudge Magua winning an award even if I think our game should have won it instead.
I mean
"oh second place should have been FINE for Magua! He did such a good job."I don't think it's necessarily wrong to say that Magua was a deserving winner, but shouldn't have won.
Now, and listen to this--
Based on wild hearsay that I might just be making up but I'm probably not, there were four-ish games in contention for the award.
*Maf. MetaMafia
*RPG Maf.
*Team Maf.
*Marketplace Maf.
off the top of my head.
All of them took a ludicrous amount of effort over and beyond your average game, were mechanically successful, and would all be good candidates for an award. Furthermore, Scummies aren't AFAIK intended to be some lifetime achievement award (unless you're MeMe); they're roughly a measure of who's hot right now. Would it be wrong or otherwise a bad idea to turn the winner-takes-all Scummies we have now and create a one-to-five-person WINNING! tier over and above the rest of the nominees?Everything you say and do matters. People will respond in ways you may never see. May those responses be what you intend.-
