Yeah. And I'm making the point this should've been done before the categories were fixed, or semi-fixed. While it's too late for 2012 unless the SSC decides to open up the categories, it should definitely be done in 2013.

mith picks the SSC to make those calls based on their own discussion with each other. While site feedback is certainly important and factored into discussion, the entire process would be bogged down if the SSC waited to get public pulse on absolutely every decision. That's why there is a committee of people who all take an active interest in the Scummies.

And Faraday makes a good point: up until about a month ago, there were only two real active people on the SSC: SpyreX & Faraday. Now, about 4-5 more people have been added and there's a lot of activity. The Scummies suggestions thread has already been discussed.

We've explained there wasn't enough manpower to get a thread up last year, we're discussing it this year, but the SSC ultimately has final say on all policy and award changes.

Regarding the AIDS role:

I think the Goo roles in Xylchat are similar, but they don't do the same thing. It's not "cult"ish, and I don't think any of the Goos have "delayed vanillaizer" effects. Plus... not sure we should be going "Well Xylchat did it before, therefore it's not a new role!" since this is supposed to be based on forum games. I mean, hell, Mafia Don won last year, and I'm pretty sure the "you die N2 no matter what" role has been done by Tar in one of his Mind Screw games.

The post I have linked to was the culmination of day-hunting by Fate and his Town / Scum lists each were almost 100% accurate (each only having one error). In a game of that size and complexity that was a pretty strong accomplishment. Had the remaining Town Doc saved Fate I think the game would have wrapped up earlier than it did. An excellent example of day-driven scum-hunting.

Also consider Fate's play in the Wyrd hydra in Gay Mafia, where he took part in blocking the scumkill and catching one scum, then calling 2/3 of the rest of the scumteam before dying.

Oh, and a heads up from the SSC: we're going to start asking for volunteers to judge soon. We'll probably get judging going mid-to-late December, and any game that doesn't end before Jan 1 2013 will not be eligible for the deadline. We want to try and get judging done earlier this year so we have time to properly plan out the ceremony and get it written, so if you're interested in judging, stay tuned for the announcement.
