I think we should start discussing what the definitions of the awards are. I think he was right to point out that some awards sound ambiguous.

BM: For addict award, I'm pretty sure you have to wait a while and see.

For exmaple: Myself, I'm anticipating a drop in activtiy towards the second half because I'm starting a difficult semester then. I will also be away end of this year for a month or so. So I can't win the award.

pablito wrote:I think that newbie 280, if it's nominated for anything, should be nominated for Best Town Performance - for the five townies and their replacements. It was the town and its diligence that made newbie 280 enjoyable. Also scum were good, but they didn't win, so therefore the only category that fits is best town performance.
I was thinking over this game, and I've posted something else elsewhere, but I think the scum were screwed up mainly due to my replacing in. Mainly because SV1 strongly believed pablito was doc, compared to SV (CTD). So I'm not too sure we deserve this.

Nah, we should nominate newbie 280 for the 'SV finally gets endgame right' award. :D

Seriously speaking, do you think the judges have time to read everything? If you're outstanding, you get nominated, then the judges will read it. So you don't have to worry about being judged for every game.

Scummies are a way to reward people for their performance.

I'm going to take offense at the rigging jury comment. I'd say we were completely impartial. Those nominated could not vote for themselves. Also, do you have any idea how long I spent reading all the nominated games? Try reading a 61 page game multiple times, and that's just one of them.

Someone should start making a list of who nominated and who seconded. I remember PJ was nice enough to do one, but it's really messy if no one will work on this.

(I am not volunteering :))

MoS: I disagree with that one, due to balance issues. (Yes, I played in it too.)

Here's what the mod had to say:
Save The Dragons wrote:I admit, this made the GF overpowered, but I don't think the Gunsmith has to conform to normal conventions. Also, the gunsmith is kinda sketchy as an investigative role. My intent was to make this game very townie, but in hindsight I should have taken away the immunity or given one less goon or something. I'm still learning as a mod.

Seconding Pooky for 'best mafia player?'
Seconding Stoofer for best regular.
Seconding PJ for funniest role claim.

I'm seconding Zindaras for best mafia solo. I read through the game, and I really admire his gutsy play!

Edit 1: I went to do a more detailed read. I'm not too sure now. I'm torn between trying to decide whether town lost it for themselves. The doc hint from Stoofer was pretty obvious, and the other townies should have picked it up. If they had, the whole Stoofer/Zindaras conversation after the kill would be less significant. Also, I felt that Stoofer could have picked up on the fact that Zindaras was a little to obviously hinting at his knowledge of the role.

Edit 2: Now I sound schizophrenic. I'm seconding Zindaras anyway. I forget newbie games have only a simple 1 group of scum. So there was no reason for Stoofer to suspect Zindaras. I was thinking more in terms of Zindaras being some role like an unknown mafia traitor or whatever, who could not talk to mafia at night, who might be trying to alert scum to the doc's presence.

And Zindaras deserves to be nominated. That was really gutsy play, and possibly the only case where the claimed doc lives that night.

Edit 3: Yep, I'm a schizo. I'm seconding Stoofer for the space monkey game, whichever award it ends up in.

We need some kind of award resembling luckiest newbie.

Newbie 348:
Town lynched scum on page 2. (He would've been actually lynched on page 1, without a bolding error).
Night 1 had a successful doc protect and a successful cop investigation.
Day 2, the cop claimed.
Town won on page 3.

Perfect newbie :)

I've been thinking over whether to nominate Glork for his play in space monkeys. I don't have time right now to read through it again, but I thought I'll throw this up for discussion.

I'll third Sudo_Nym. Best newbie game I've read so far played by a newbie. What makes it more impressive is that he did it almost singlehandedly.

Mr. Stoofer: I un-nominate myself for this award.

I feel that I do not deserve this. I asked for replacements in 2 games which I replaced into. Also, I most recently asked for replacement in 2 large games (the period where I pretty much disappeared from the site due to some RL problems.)

I strongly oppose ALL nominations for me into both prolific player and behind the scenes, because I don't deserve them, until at some point when I make some sense out of my RL, which will never undo what I did here anyway.

I completely support Jalyn. It is difficult for replacements to be active immediately, but Jalyn does it, and does a great job. And her 'only replacing in' policy is something that must be applauded and recognised.
